MY BELIEFS AS A NAIL TECH‼️
•I’ve noticed that a lot of people have questions about nail health so I figured I’d answer some
⤵️
• One misconception that I hear a lot is that all acrylic is bad for your nails and that is very false. Yes some acrylic is bad for your nails but that is if it has MMA in it. MMA is what they use in dentures to make them hard 🦷. Yes it makes nails stick very well, but it also wrecks your nailbeds. A way to know if a salon uses that is of you walk in and it smells overwhelmingly of Acetone. That’s not acetone it’s MMA. ❌
•Another thing that can happen is over-filing. It’s not always the acrylic or product that’s a problem, sometimes it’s the prep work and fileing. Have you ever had the ridges on your nails? Those are called rings of fire 🔥, that’s not from acrylic it’s from over fileing.
•This post is NOT to scare anyone or bash other nail techs. It’s simply to answer questions and fix some bad rumors about nails 💅🏻
• Filing is IMPORTANT and NECESSARY. I’m not saying that filing is bad, it’s OVER-FILING that’s an issue. The gel or acrylic needs a rough surface to adhere too, using a file is not bad, but how you use it matters 🖤
•Unfortunately I can’t completely fix rings of fire or thin nail beds, but we can work on growing them out and getting them as healthy as possible together✨.
