Can you believe this is my baby girl? She is the reason I started making tutus 14 years ago.

Now I’m learning new skills. This summer I’ve been refurbishing and customizing her ballroom dresses. 👗 I have others in the works as well. The teal Latin dress needed minimal work (fringe repairs and sewing in a bra). The lavender dress was in really good shape and only needed a few stones. We’ve had fun customizing so she can wear it different ways for both International Ballroom and American Smooth dances.

Another surgery done and recovery is going well. I was able to stand while to cut ribbon today. It’s nice to visit with my mom while I sit and sew bows.

Replacing floors downstairs this week so I’m working out of my bedroom. I tried to cover Astrid’s ears to block out the noise of the floorers, but she feels it’s more important to see me.

…and here’s a peek at my studio all cleared out, almost done and ready to put everything back. Rethinking my set-up to make it more functional: I have big IKEA cubbies for storage for things I need accessible, need to set up a sewing and crafting area that makes more sense than before.

A little over a week ago my brother and his family had a house fire. Their kitchen was destroyed, the main floor was covered in soot, and there was smoke damaged downstairs. Thankfully no one was home and all the humans were fine. I’m also thankful that my husband’s work schedule slowed me to take off across the country to help during the week. Tragedy may have brought me home, but it was good to spend time with my siblings (SIL included), parents, nephews, and niece.

Thank you for being so patient with me as I catch up on tutu orders this week.

I tried my hand at making tutus for my baby girl’s first birthday. Opened my Etsy shop a few months later and that found my niche of after a couple years in. My wonderful customers have supported field trips, buying books, dance classes, theater classes, scouting, etc…for both my kids.

This week my baby girl (now a ) had the opportunity to teach a new troop of for their first meeting. She has grown so much!

Yesterday she took off for ‘s convention , joining thousands of go-getters from across the US.

These young women have been mentored to be our future and are already mentoring those who will come after them. They are changing the world to make it a better place right now and will continue to do so.
