I FAILED!

Yes, I am embarrassed to admit I fell off my journey of progress. Worse would be if I didn't learn from my failed attempts.

"Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently" - Henry Ford

If you have failed before at something that you wanted to achieve, don't give up, try again and apply what you have learned. Rest if you must but keep on trying.

Show Up for Yourself! — Live Life Consciously 01/13/2021

Show Up for Yourself!

You wake up in the morning for work. Even if you are running late and have to skip breakfast for staying in bed just a little longer, you skip it. You look at the time and try to catch up with everything you need to do to be on time. You don't want to get a point at work for being late.

You make sure the kids are ready for school and have everything needed, bookbag? Checked, lunch money? Checked, dressed properly for the weather? Checked.

You go outside to warm the car, and you realize you need to shovel the snow off the driveway before moving the car. You do what you must and arrive to work on time.

You finish your shift and head home. You stop by the supermarket and get some quick meals to prepare because you are tired from work. Help the children with homework, feed them, shower them, or instruct them what to do. You tuck the children to bed.

Who better than a mother or wife who takes care of others, to care for herself. You are the best person to take care of you. You know what you need and what you want.

That is only one scenario. The story can happen in so many different ways. You can be a married couple, a college student, a single mother, or whatever situation you are in. You know your unique story.

We do everything that has to be done, yet we won't do what we need for ourselves. We push through for other people, for work, for children but are too tired to do the same for us.

You pay your bills but won't pay yourself first. What does pay yourself first mean? Putting money aside as savings or emergency funds.

Life gets better when you decide to push through and show up for yourself. Give yourself that extra morning stretch. Wake up a little earlier to do something nice for yourself. Plan your future and work towards it after work. Make yourself as important as your job or other things, and show up for you.

Take this moment to believe you are the boss of you and follow through in the same way you show up for others. You deserve to take yourself as seriously as you do others.

Decide on the life you want and make it happen. Think to yourself, “I am my own boss. If I can show up for others, I can show up for myself.”

Now that you see how much you show up for others, how will you show up for yourself? What will you do now that you are the BOSS?

Give Yourself the Present — Live Life Consciously 01/06/2021

It's easy to get caught living on autopilot. We start our day thinking of the next task that needs to get done on our to-do list or the next task at work. We even drive to and from work on autopilot without giving it much thought. Perhaps you find yourself thinking about a problem you have or mindlessly listening to a song playing on the radio. Maybe a problem is plaguing your thoughts, and you are replaying events or conversations. We have all been there.

Life goes by quickly; days turn into weeks, months, and years. Chasing the future or replaying the past doesn't give us room to enjoy our lives because we are not living. To live life, one must be in the present. Give yourself the time you need to live the life you want and get unstuck from the past or the future.

Today I went to get a pedicure done. It's one of the many little self-care things I do. I sat on the massage chair, took off my shoes, and dipped my feet into the warm, almost hot water. I picked up my phone and began looking through emails, check my Facebook groups, and whatever else I felt I needed to check.

I found myself wasting the moment and not truly relaxing and enjoying the moment. We need to stay aware of these fleeting moments. These are the moments that life is all about, but we miss out on them. I put my phone down. The lady was massaging my feet and legs. I didn't even notice the massage chair was rolling up and down my back before putting my cell phone down. I was on autopilot.

At that moment I decided that I would be present. My mind often running around in circles with many thoughts; I told it to be quiet. I knew I would have time later to address whatever thoughts, problems, tasks I had.

Now that I was present, I enjoyed the oil massage the lady was giving me. Feeling all the pressure points she was pushing on my feet. I also enjoyed the smell of the orange-scented scrub. The hot black stones that were rubbed on my feet and legs felt wonderful. Then the hot towels she placed on my legs, followed by the heated foot wax.

Had I not decided to be present, I probably wouldn't have known I was there. By putting the phone down and shutting my mind off, I was able to enjoy "now."

Don't think of your problems or worries all the time. They will be there when you are done enjoying your moments, whatever that self-love routine is. It's pointless to destroy a good moment by thinking of a negative thought, the past, the future, or not being in the present.

Gift yourself with the present and enjoy!
