Viumbe Birth & Wellness
Supporting local women during their childbearing years- mind, body, and spirit - back to the way we I was created to help, serve, and care for others.
Viumbe, which means Creation, is the realization of one of my purposes for existence. My family fulfills this purpose personally and massage allows me to do the same professionally. The many stresses of our world today take us further and further away from the way we were created in so many ways. I pray that I can help you get a little closer to the state your body longs to be in one visit at a time.

You can significantly reduce your chances of tearing with patience. As your baby's head begins to crown (rest visibly at your vaginal opening) the skin/tissues in that area needs to stretch to allow baby to pass through. At this time, if you push too hard/fast, find a poor position (mom or baby), or birth with the support of delivery instruments (like forceps or vacuum though sometimes they are very necessary) you contribute to your chances of tearing. Try to avoid tearing by
- Considering birthing in water (warm water >relaxed>soft/stretchy skin)
- Getting delivery assistance from gravity (more upright positioning)
- Listening to your body and ONLY pushing when you have an urge to push
- Take a Childbirth Education Class

Technically, all pregnant people are at risk of developing Gestational Diabetes.
During pregnancy the hormones in our bodies change a lot and that
impacts the way the body processes sugars. Women in certain groups are at higher risk than others...
- those with PCOS
- existing type 2 diabetes and
- those in BIPOC communities
Before you get pregnant, you may be able to prevent gestational diabetes with lifestyle changes. Things like...
- losing weight if you're overweight
- eating a healthy diet and
- Getting regular physical activity.
If you are diagnosed with GD many times it can be managed with diet and exercise, medication, or a combination of the three. Unmanaged it can both impact your and your baby's health and safety. It's important. So no, this is not one of those things that will figure itself out if you ignore it. This is YOUR (and your baby's) health... you have to care the most.

I love being a doula. With over 10 years of experience I have learned so much personally from my time as a doula and I've gained so much insight from other doulas who came before me. Now, I pass along my knowledge to new doulas to help them get started on their journeys to supporting birth.
Our six-month mentorship program supports you in becoming an assured, compassionate, and business-savvy birth worker. Our unique program is designed to support you at any stage in your journey.
