Alocasia âVenomâ is a mutant of Alocasia âAmazonicaâ discovered by Mason Lee at Mason Plants in South Korea around 2019 and commercialized from 2022. The name âVenomâ was chosen because the leaf shape reminded Lee of the Marvel character Venom.
The plant is a mutation of the classic cross between Alocasia sanderiana and Alocasia longiloba âWatsonianaâ, the same origin as the famous âAmazonicaâ and its many âcousinsâ such as âPollyâ, âMortefontanensisâ and others.
Care:
đĄLight: Bright indirect sunlight is essential. Avoid direct sun, which easily scorches its dark leaves.
đ¨Humidity: Keep humidity at 60% or higher. Lower levels can cause crispy leaf edges or dynamic curling.
Temperature: Maintain a warm environment between 65°F and 85°F (18°Câ29°C). Keep it away from cold drafts or air vents.
đŞSoil Mix: Use a highly aerated, chunky aroid mix. Combine potting soil, orchid bark, perlite, and charcoal.
đŚWatering: Water when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil dries out. Ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot. (This plant loves to stay moist, but that doesnât mean watering everyday.)
Fertilizer: I use Happy Happy HouseplantđŞ´Mandi Gubler Plant Food, which makes it super easy to not overthink fertilizer. Every watering, my plants get what they need.
đ Note: This is not a beginner friendly plant, so if youâre just starting your plant journey, I would wait on this one.
A little ASMR potting up my first tissue culture Alocasia Lauterbachiana variegated. It has acclimated so well, and Iâm truly enjoying the process. Also, the Aroid soil that you see here, I bought it on Amazon, and it is so rich and the perfect blend of chunky, but also keeps a good amount of moisture. A truly great blend for your tropical plants if you donât want to make your own.

Oh how my Philodendron hederaceum variegated Heartleaf, also known as Philodendron variegated Heartleaf, has my heart. By far one of my easiest houseplants to care for. If you donât have one and are looking for a stunning, easy plant, this can be an option for you. It didnât have much variegation, and all of a sudden it started pushing out such beautiful leaves.
đ¤I have mine trailing, but you can give it support and it will climb.
