Safety doesn't end when you park.

🚨 Always check the back seat before leaving your vehicle.
🚨 Lock your vehicle, even when parked at home.
🚨 Keep keys and key fobs out of reach of children.
🚨 Teach children that vehicles are not play areas.
🚨 Never leave children unattended in or around a vehicle.

Children are naturally curious. It only takes a moment for a child to climb into an unlocked vehicle and become unable to get back out. As parents, grandparents, caregivers, neighbors, and community members, we all play a role in preventing these tragedies.

Look Before You Lock. Lock Before You Leave.

πŸš’ Busy Weekend for HBFD πŸš’

From Friday through Monday, Hemby Bridge Fire Department personnel responded to more than 40 calls for service, including three working fires, and numerous EMS incidents, along wth motor vehicle crashes, fire alarms, and public service calls.

One of the weekend's fires presented unique operational challenges due to the distance from available water sources. Crews implemented relay pumping operations utilizing Engine 231 to ensure a continuous water supply for suppression efforts.

Thanks to the dedication of our personnel, and our mutual aid partners, every challenge was met with an unwavering commitment to serving our community.

While there is currently not a burn ban in place, please do not burn today due to an Increased Risk of Wildfire.

Increased Risk of Wildfire Due to Elevated Fire Danger -- Thursday, June 18, 2026

The National Weather Service has issued fire danger statements for central and eastern North Carolina. What does increased fire danger mean for you today?

🎯 Fires can start from the smallest spark.
🎯 Dry conditions and wind increase fire spread.
🎯 Everyday activities carry more risk right now.

Avoid burning, and be cautious with anything that could cause a spark. Properly dispose of smoking materials such as ci******es. Be extremely careful with machinery and farm equipment when working outdoors.

Contact your N.C. Forest Service county ranger's office for guidance.

Early yesterday morning, Hemby Bridge Fire Department was dispatched along with mutual aid partners to the 14000blk of E Independence Blvd for a reported commercial structure fire.

Due to the caller’s awareness, early notification to 911, and along with the quick response and efforts on scene, extension beyond the fire room was limited preventing further damage to neighboring units.

To Bakers Fire & Rescue, Monroe Fire Department, Stallings Fire Department, Union EMS, Union County Communications, Union County Fire Marshal’s Office, and our Law Enforcement partners we are grateful for your continued support in serving our communities.
