We’re so excited to share that our upcoming Roots of Care Seminar & Curl Confidence Expo was recently featured by CBS19 News! 🎉

This event will be held on May 17th from 12 PM–2 PM at the The Upscale Event Center and is designed to help caregivers and youth feel more confident caring for coily, curly, and wavy natural hair textures.

Hosted by Courtney Shelton of HuMane Hair and Ty Johnson of Curls and Caregivers, this hands-on educational seminar will provide practical, easy-to-understand guidance for families, caregivers, foster parents, adoptive parents, and youth-serving professionals.

Topics will include:

Wash day education
Product guidance & understanding moisture vs. oil Detangling and styling demonstrations
Protective styling basics
Healthy hair maintenance education
Interactive learning & community support

Our goal is to create a welcoming space where families can learn real-life hair care techniques while building confidence, identity, and support surrounding natural curls and textured hair care. 🤍

🔗🔗🔗📍📍📍The upcoming “Roots of Care” Seminar & Curl Confidence Expo will take place on May 17, 2026, from 12-2 at the upscale event center in Charlottesville Va and will provide hands-on education focused on natural and textured hair care for Foster, adoptive and biological families. The class is designed to help caregivers, parents, foster families, and community members learn practical techniques such as detangling, curl care, product selection, protective styling, and building healthy hair routines in a supportive learning environment. Through sponsorship support, 25 seats are available at no cost for participants interested in attending. Today I had the pleasure of doing my favorite hairstylists hair! We started with cutting about 4 inches off, pre treated her hair with K18 professional molecular repair hair mist prior to color service. She wanted to go darker so we went one 1N jet black. Gave her a good scrub! Sealed in all the goodness with K18 molecular repair hair mask. Let that sit for about four minutes before a traditional roller set sitting under the dryer for a little over an hour straighten her roots for the final look!! Taking a look at all of that body. Her hair is absolutely gorgeous!!
