Dr. Emily Hart, MD
Helping women feel confident in their skin again with honest, proven skincare.
As a dermatologist (and a woman in her 50s), I’ve heard this same sentence from hundreds of women:
“Why didn’t anyone warn me my skin would change so fast?”
The dryness.
The dullness.
The moment you realize that expensive creams don’t do what they promised.
So let’s change that — together.
💬 What’s one thing you wish you knew before your skin started to change?
Maybe it’s something small — like always moisturizing damp skin.
Maybe it’s something big — like not wasting time on products that weren’t made for your age.
Whatever it is… your words might help another woman feel a little less alone.

Cynthia is 58, and she was doing everything right.
Sunscreen. Retinol. Hydrating moisturizers.
But her forehead lines were deepening… fast.
So we looked deeper.
Turns out, she’d been over-exfoliating.
Twice a day, every day — thinking it would smooth things out.
Instead, her skin barrier was irritated and thin. That made her wrinkles appear even more visible.
We scaled it way back.
Introduced barrier-repair ingredients like ceramides and niacinamide.
Gave her skin a break from all the acids.
Sometimes, less really is more.
The trick is knowing when to stop pushing — and start restoring.
Her before/after speaks for itself. I’m so proud of how far she’s come.

Marcy came to me thinking her moisturizer had just “stopped working.”
She was applying layer after layer, but her skin still felt tight, flaky, and dull.
What she didn’t realize is - her skin wasn’t dry. It was dehydrated.
That’s a huge difference.
Dry skin lacks oil. Dehydrated skin lacks water. And mature skin often struggles with both.
We adjusted her routine:
— Swapped out foaming cleansers for a cream-based one
— Added a hydrating serum with glycerin + hyaluronic acid
— Sealed it in with a richer moisturizer
— Taught her to apply on damp skin, not bone-dry
Within two weeks, her skin looked fresher. By week four, she was glowing.
Sometimes, it's not about buying more products — it's about using the right ones, in the right order.

How it feels when the girl behind the counter skips over you for the 20-something behind you.
How you start to wonder…
