Beyond the Ponytail was created to Inspire! My love and passion for designing hair led me to create a page that showcases the looks that I love. It also allowed me to help others push boundaries on what they thought they could accomplish. I offer customized classes on easily replicated Braids in "in-salon" and "one-on-one" education environment. Believing in yourself is the first step...the work comes after. Inspire. Create.

With the heaviest of hearts, we share the unexpected passing of a dear friend, colleague, and incredible artist in our BTP community, Denise Chesser. 💔 She was, and always will be, a beautiful inspiration to us, she will be deeply missed. We’ve shared her amazing work throughout the years and have collected some of our favorites here. Rest easy, my friend. 🕊️
Denise was so much more than a talented bridal hairstylist. She was a mother, daughter, sister, friend, and a truly one-of-a-kind person who brought so much kindness, joy, and beauty to the lives of those around her.
Denise cared deeply about her brides and the relationships she built through her work. Her impact on our wedding community and on all of us who had the privilege of knowing her will not be forgotten.
We ask that you please respect Denise’s family’s privacy as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

Expert advice from celebrity hairstylist Ruslan Nureev Ruslan Nureev | ⬇️
“The curling iron is not the secret, it’s all about the direction that you hold it, this is the technique I used to recreate Zendaya’s romantic waves.” Ruslan Nureev
→ Start with naturally air-dried hair
→ Use a ¾-inch / 20mm curling iron
→ Take small sections
→ Hold the iron horizontally
→ Wrap the hair around the iron 4 times
→ Release, move down to the last ridge, and wrap in the opposite direction
→ Continue alternating directions through the section
→ Brush everything out at the end
As a celebrity hairstylist, one thing I’ve learned is that the small details like that can completely change the final texture
For this look, horizontal placement + 4 wraps + alternating directions creates that soft, natural romantic wave instead of a traditional curl
Save this tutorial, I honestly think that you’re going to be seeing this texture everywhere.
