I didn’t plan on sharing our bathroom experiment online, but … here we are.

I’ve been playing around with our bathroom setup lately, trying to keep it both beautiful and functional. One of my biggest goals? Protecting our sink countertops from becoming a resting place for purses, because those scratches are no joke 😩

So I tried something new: a styled tray with little “treat yourself, but don’t take me home” items (travel-size lotion, a light room spray, and a perfume). And off to the side (not pictured), two pretty glass containers stocked with feminine hygiene products.

At first, it felt like a win.

But give it a 2nd month, and the plot thickens…

The room spray? A fan favorite but … too much of a fan favorite. It turns out that the daily use plus oil-based spray means a slick floor waiting to humble someone. So… out it goes, diffuser is in.

The feminine products? It proved helpful except on the
weekends. I’ve seen more than one person walk out with a full handful like it was a party favor. Not knowing who I am, they smiled at me and continued on their way.

The perfume was stolen … by me 😂 It was left alone most of the time, maybe not everyone likes it and that’s ok. I can buy a variety of them and swap one at a time.

But hey, that’s part of testing what works and what doesn’t.

So now, the feminine hygiene products are tucked away privately, and our tenants will know where to find them when needed.

Here’s what I learned: Just because something is thoughtful doesn’t mean it’ll be respected.

I’m still experimenting and adjusting. I still need to find ideas of what to fill in those glass containers. (I’m open to suggestions.)
