She is definitely going to be the life of any party π₯³
My youngest client is 4 years old. I have pictures to follow; I've just been so busy. Her mom posted the video today, and I just had to share it.
While I get those pics together, here is a big dose of cuteness π
@__brittnydee Thanks again for trusting me with her π
I am perfectly flawed, imperfect, and so much more that I wanted to share a few pieces of me @son_blessed62
I woke up this morning, and during my quiet time, it came to me that this would be the last year in my 50s, and it seemed like my past flashed before me. After thinking of all I've experienced in my lifetime so far, I am grateful to still be here. My life isn't perfect and not near where I would like to be and personally, neither am I...
I will say that the realization has helped me understand:
- That some things no longer matter as much (as they used to)
- I am where my heart is at (as best I can be)
- I choose my battles (whether I want to engage or not, and most times, it's not)
- I look at family/love/friend/client'ships differently
From the age of 9, I've never been able to live my life as it should have been, was intended, etc. (life has not always been kind, fair, nor easy for me)
My life as a mom started at the age of 18 with my first love, my son Andre (who now rests I'm peace since 2000). At 24, I had my second child, my first baby girl Karen (now 36) (@loveannette2). By the age of 29, I was in a new relationship and raised 2 more @lamarjdub (now 36) and Janique (now 36), and finally, my last baby girl, Jazzy @jazzy.sariah (17 1/2)
This is a lot to express, but I did it to say that as I approach the 60's club, I want to do it as graceful as possible because who knows, I may lose a piece of my mind when I get there π€£π€£π€£
I believe then I can take a part of my life back in a selfish (unselfish kind of way). Jazzy will soon be driving, and she'll be turning 18 yrs old in December and graduates HS next year.
Only God knows the plans he has for me, and for that, it can only be good. Amen ππ½
I am grateful for every experience that I've had in my life as it shaped me (and will continue) into the woman I am today. So please forgive me if there is a sense of boldness that flares up every now and then. If you read this post, I'm sorry (because I mean this was a lot for me, coming from a private person)
Two Strand Twists for this cutie pie π₯°
What crochet? My client of 6 years has hereditary Alopecia
I call her "My Columbiana" β€
She is styled with Freetress Cozy Deep. This is her staple curl pattern and color for a more natural look.

@ebnaoje such a beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing π€
What crochet? I just finished with this clients install. She ordered this hair online from Amazon and WOW! I was surprised by the texture; soft, flowy and very light for a synthetic brand. We were both happy with the results. I hope to give an update in a few weeks to see how the hair is holding up ππΎ
Whereas my client posted this on FB and said she "was not going to do it" and did, and going to do it as well.
This is a situation where a braider claimed to be able to duplicate a style (for a client of mine) but ended as an EPIC fail. As my response to her post was simply that when you claim to be able to provide a service but don't (this wasn't even close to my work) it's a lie! This happens way too much in the service industry and honestly we (the service community) have got to do better. I understand and appreciate the levels of experience with regard to a profession or craft (beginner, Intermediate, advanced, seasoned, master etc.) There is nothing wrong with being a beginner (very little or no experience at all) so please, do better when offering a service and charging a price that should reflect your experience accordingly)
Mini Two Strand Twists
FB memory from 4 years ago today. This was a fun night out
All scalp oils are not created equally. See how my oil penetrates the scalp π some would say we don't need scalp oils but I beg to differ, not challenge π€£π€£π€£
I can honestly say that the photo op is the best part of her appointment. My youngest, with the biggest personality β€
And some extras:
- "can I see the mirror"
- "can you spin me around"
- "I want to pass you the beads"
And snacks have to be on board. Her shop favorite "Doritos Nacho Cheese" and another "Ritz crackers" π€£π€£π€£
This young client arrived to her appointment crying and scared, thinking 'this new braider' (me) was going to hurt her even more or once again... possibly by forcefully detangling her hair, pulling at her scalp and braiding her hair too tight π
The trauma she experiences is due to having her hair braided tightly and mishandled by others than myself.
I almost teared up when I noticed her body language as she hesitantly walked to sit in my chair, how she looked to her aunt (my client) for reassurance that it wasn't going to hurt or that I'd make her cry.
To me it doesn't seem natural for a child to be so scared to have their hair combed. Alternatively, those children with tender scalps, a lot of hair such as thickness/density and length definitely require more than average patience.
End result is the first picture posted π It took 3 hours to detangle and twist. We finished just after midnight and yes, it was an urgent request and I was happy to help.
I chose not to take a picture of her hair as she arrived, because I wanted to show her face.
I may not get the opportunity to style her again anytime soon because she was visiting with family but I wish I could be her stylist ππ½

This beauty, I've been servicing since she was younger is now a HS Senior and headed to the Navy! @livloveandbekind β€β€β€
She messaged me today after coming out of her Box Braids:
"Hello! I will be having my natural hair from now on and was wondering if I can have a consultation with you to find and buy new products for my hair. I was thinking about a new shampoo and additional products/tips to style my hair on a regular basis. Can you let me know when your available?"
I am so proud and grateful to announce that I've been able to maintain and create a nurturing/hair styling business for 10 years (I just realized it today) π― ππ½
This would not have been possible without the amazing clientele that I've been blessed and able to service. I want to thank each and everyone of you for adding value to me and my business.
We've laughed, cried, shared intimate moments and so much more. Thank you for allowing me to be woven into your life's memories and milestones as I've done the same with many of you.
It's so hard to believe, and I'm not sure where the time has gone. A true statement would be that I was able to keep my head down, doing what I do.
I won't say that 2022 will be my year, but I will say it'll be a year for change.

Thank you to all my ladies and gentlemen (young ones included) for choosing me as your stylist, it is ALWAYS my pleasure to be of service to YOU!!!
I love you and cheers to the New Year!!! β€π€π€
It's beginning to look alot like Christmas β€
Just some Marley Twists β€
How he came in vs how he left. This client tracked me down for a year "he said" trying to book an appt. Saying "I know its last minute but..." we laughed alot and I thanked him for being persistent and patient ππ½
I always try and do my best to squeeze and fit in clients when I can but it isn't always possible. In order to avoid being "locked out" as some say, it is always recommended and best practice to book with me before leaving the shop.
I'm grateful to have such loyal clients ππ½ β€

No extension styling. Let what our baby girls have on their head simply by enough.
