The "Murph" workout, a CrossFit Hero WOD, is important as a challenging fitness test and a way to honor the sacrifice of Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy, with many gyms performing it on Memorial Day.

Here's a more detailed explanation- what it is:

The Murph workout consists of 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and two 1-mile runs, all while wearing a 20-pound weight vest.

Why it's important:

Honoring the Fallen: It's a CrossFit tradition to perform Murph on Memorial Day to remember and honor Lt. Michael Murphy and all those who have served.

Physical Challenge: The Murph workout is a rigorous test of strength, endurance, and mental fortitude, pushing participants to their limits.

Community: The workout fosters a sense of community and camaraderie as people come together to complete the challenge and honor the fallen.

Adaptable: The Murph workout can be scaled to different fitness levels, making it accessible to a wide range of people.

Benefits: Increased Cardiovascular Fitness: The workout improves cardiovascular endurance through running and the high-intensity nature of the movements.

Improved Strength and Endurance: The Murph workout targets multiple muscle groups, building strength and endurance.

Mental Resilience: Overcoming the physical and mental challenges of the Murph workout can build resilience and a sense of accomplishment.

Training for Murph:
Focus on Strength and Endurance: Training should include exercises that build strength in pull-ups, push-ups, and squats, as well as endurance through running and weighted carries.

Practice with a Weighted Vest: Familiarize yourself with wearing a weighted vest and running with it to prepare for the workout.

Listen to Your Body: It's important to listen to your body and make adjustments to the workout as needed to avoid injury.

I do my press ons and my push ups. 🀣πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ’…πŸΌ

Going to keep practicing the plank on the barbell and then I'll work into that push up on the barbell again! I remember a time when I couldn't do a single push up on the floor or on an elevated surface. I was the girl who started out doing push ups at the wall. Now, I'm trying these circus tricks. πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Keep going! Keep moving! Keep loving! Keep living!

Be on the lookout for more of my shenanigans at the gym!
