Taylor Mckiddy stopped by yesterday to check out the babies of one of her former show lambs, Ivy. Ivy delivered twins earlier in the day and Taylor has developed into a beautiful young lady since her showing days! This is why we do what we do here at SHEAR Genius - Alan Smith show lambs! Taylor was a quick learner at clipping lambs. I bet she could still peel the wool off smoother than most! Thanks for stopping by!

When we all realize showing lambs is partially a beauty pageant, more kids will get recognized for their hours spent developing s**g! Andrea Phillips from Coleman, Texas is a long time client that their chapter show judge commented positively with each lamb she exhibited! Congratulations to Andrea and this won’t be the last time a judge recognizes your effort!

JS Sandoval ShowLambs have been long time clients and they know I like pics of the kids working as much as the backdrop! Congratulations, Joel!

Another Christmas gift idea! Hoof Trimming made easy! I don’t sell these, but the Corona pruner is less than $20 most anywhere you look and the same for the Accusharp All-in-One Sharpener. Use them together to keep a fresh edge on your trimmers!

In case you missed it- here is a pic of one of my favorite tools to help get babies started and mamas relieved! The Udderly EZ hand milker is from Premier Supply and relieves both the heavy milking mother and the shepherd’s hands!

Today’s suggestion for Christmas that every clipper box can use! A toothbrush! Not just any one for me, I like a denture brush. Those bristles on top are a great way to get debris dislodged from between the teeth of your blades. Replace it when dirty or when you think you have been through ringworm or club lamb fungus!

Day 9 of Christmas ideas for your shepherd! If you are preparing to lamb some ewes, make certain you have a product for Vitamins A, D, and E available! This is from Premier 1 Supply, but there are others. I sq**rt 4cc in the drench each time I tube a lamb, and pump directly into lambs that I don’t tube at birth. It actually will thin that really thick colostrum that doesn’t go down well by gravity alone. Read the text to understand the importance of A,D, and E.

Day 8 of possible Christmas gifts for your shepherd or fitter! Or yourself! One of my most common questions is, “What should I do with my blades once I shear over a spot of ringworm or club lamb fungus?” Soak them in this! Contains no water, so it won’t rust your blades! Not labeled to apply directly to animals! (Dang!)

Day 7 of my suggestions for Christmas gifts this year is the 3 gallon bucket hanger! Tired of buckets that get knocked over? Babies trying to get in them! Dirt and bedding requiring more cleaning? Besides the EZ Milker and Deck Chair, these would be my last item to sell when I retire. Have a rowdy ewe that just likes to play until they are knocked over? Just 3 zip ties and they can’t do it anymore! Sold by Sydell Inc. and Scott Yates has his version as well.
