UK & INTERNATIONAL CLASSES ✂️🌍

Hey I’m Rebecca ✂️
Cutting specialist | Birmingham
Proud current holder of Midlands Hairdresser of the Year 🏆
Almost 15 years in the industry, I’ve explored many paths, but cutting is where my passion lies.

A person who works with their hands is a labourer.
A person who works with their hands and brain is a craftsman.
A person who works with their hands, brain and heart is an artist.

So… what does that make a hairdresser?

Because I don’t think we’re “just cutting hair.”

Yes, we work with our hands the precision, the sectioning, the scissors, the technique.

And yes, we work with our brain🧠 , reading the hair, the face, the lifestyle, working out what’s actually going to suit someone and last beyond the chair.

But the heart?

That’s the bit people don’t always get to see.

The client who needs a change after a hard chapter.
The bride on the biggest day of her life.
The person who sits down takes a breath and leaves feeling like themselves again😍

The mannequin heads, the shoots, the stage, the years of practice 😅 it all matters. But the real magic is when craft meets care.

SAVE this if you’re proud to be more than “just a hairdresser.”
SEND OR TAG the hairdresser who needs reminding that what they do is art. ✂️

I used to pick up my scissors and just hope for the best I think we’ve all done it at some point (not everyone will admit to it)

Not everyone’s teacher explains the why. Why that section. Why that elevation. Why the exact same haircut sits completely different on a different head shape 🤯 (this one used to confuse me so much)
You just watch someone do it, have a go and pray it lands.

And when it doesn’t you’re stood there tweaking, texturising, blowdrying it into submission hoping the client doesn’t notice 👀

That quiet panic mid haircut. Pretending you meant to do that. Going home and replaying it in your head. That’s not a confidence problem. That’s a foundations problem. And it’s not your fault nobody ever actually taught you. Solutions 👇👇

So here’s where I’d start:

1. Look before you touch 🖐️
Before you pick up your scissors spend 60 seconds just looking at the head shape. Where does it flatten. Where does it round. That alone will change how you approach every cut.

2. Understand where your weight is falling 🏋️
Most haircuts go wrong because the weight lands in the wrong place. Train your eye to see it before you start cutting not after.

3. Stop sectioning out of habit 🧠
If you can’t tell me why you’re taking that section you’re guessing. Slow down and make every section intentional.

These three things alone will make you feel more in control behind that chair than any tutorial ever will. Hope this helps ✌️oh and 👇

You know exactly who you want to be behind that chair (I remember this moment) 👇

Confident. Clean. The kind of hairdresser that a client shows a picture to and you don’t even flinch. You just get it 👍👈 You see it immediately. You know exactly what you’re doing and why. BUT…👀

Then real life shows up and you’re stood there with your comb doing your best impression of someone who definitely has this under control (I recon 99% of hairdressers can relate here at some point)

Here’s the thing though. The gap isn’t as big as it feels on a bad day. It’s just that no one ever handed you the right pieces. GOOD NEWS 👇

So let me give you three of them right now:

1. 🖐️ Before you touch anything decide what shape you’re actually building.
Not a vague idea. Not a feeling. A real decision. Because without that you’re not cutting hair you’re just reacting to it. And reacting is exhausting and it’s why you feel like you’re chasing every single haircut instead of leading it.
2. 🧠 Your sections are either doing the work or undoing it.
There is no in between. A sloppy section doesn’t just affect that bit of hair it affects every single thing that comes after it. Slow down on the sections and the rest of the haircut genuinely starts to take care of itself.
3. 🤯 Check the whole head not just the bit in your fingers.
This is the one. We get so zoomed in that we stop seeing the full picture and that’s when it drifts. Put the scissors down every few cuts and just look. Properly look. That one habit alone will change your haircuts more than anything else I can tell you.

The hairdresser in your head isn’t a fantasy. She’s just waiting for the foundations to catch up.

Save this 📌 because this is the stuff that actually moves the needle. And when you’re ready to close that gap for good the link in my bio is there

Hope this was helpful, l

Short hair doesn’t have to be stressful it has to be strategic. 👇
The top sections take me 5-10 minutes. One triangular cutting line, increasing towards the face, and the whole top is done. No guessing, no fixing, no panic.
If you’re rushing through short haircuts hoping it works out… this is your sign to learn the method, not just the move.
