This hit home! I’ve always said entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey. When others can’t see your vision or relate to your path, moving forward sometimes means making the difficult decision to leave certain people behind.
You also learn to be more intentional about who you associate with and who you allow inside what you’re building. You’re sharing something you’ve poured your time, money, creativity, and heart into. That kind of access deserves consideration. You can value a relationship without sharing every plan, every struggle, or every next move.
Some people will support you, challenge you with honesty, and respect your vision—even when they don’t fully understand it. Others may want access without respecting the responsibility that comes with it. Pay attention to how people handle your boundaries, your setbacks, and your success. Trust is built through consistent actions over time.
Being selective doesn’t mean you think you’re better than anyone. It means you understand the weight of what you’re carrying and how deeply the people around you can influence your confidence, your decisions, and your peace.
Discernment is necessary, but it can come with loneliness. Sometimes you’ll miss people you know you can no longer keep close. Sometimes you’ll wish you had someone to share the small wins with who understands what they cost you. That part of entrepreneurship deserves to be acknowledged, too.

When breast cancer awareness month is over and the pink comes down, the care should continue. 🎀
In April 2007, I was diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer with lymph node involvement. Surgeries, reconstruction, and six rounds of chemotherapy are part of my story—but they cannot tell all of it.
As a survivor and founder of Sydoni Skincare and Beauty, this message is deeply personal: see the person behind the diagnosis.
The one who looks okay but needs someone to ask.
The one who doesn’t feel strong today.
The one whose treatment has ended, but who still needs support.
The one whose treatment continues.
You don’t need perfect words. Make the call. Bring the meal. Listen without expecting a positive update.
