Susan's Soaps & More
Still making all natural soaps and skin care like I have for over 25 years, but started on a quest to visit all 88 Texas State Parks. At 68 yrs. Come join me!
old I wanted a reset for energy and life and am finding it in nature while visiting parks.
Caught this moment of pure calm on the pier this morning. ☁️✨
Between the rustling reeds and the birds singing away, my spirit feels completely renewed. It’s amazing how much beauty is waiting for us if we just step outside and look.
What’s one simple thing that’s brought you peace this week?
Sometimes, slowing down in public invites the best kind of connection. 🌿✨ While I was sketching a little spiky shrub on the Monarch Trail, I met a lovely couple exploring the parks just like I am. It’s a beautiful thing—traveling to 88 state parks isn’t just about the stamps or the sketches; it’s about the people you meet along the way. Stop #17 was a reminder that we’re all looking for the same kind of escape.
Why take a Bay Rum shampoo bar to a state park? Because some scents just fit the landscape. 🦖✨ Spicy, timeless, and perfectly earthy—it’s the scent I reach for when I want to feel as grounded as the trails I’m walking. Have you tried our Bay Rum yet?

When the internet goes down, you have two choices: get frustrated, or get out. 🌿✨ My morning didn’t go as planned, so I traded my screen for a sketchbook and ran away to the trails. There is something profoundly grounding about sitting in a place where dinosaurs once walked—it puts our modern-day “tech emergencies” into a much calmer perspective. If you’re feeling a bit adrift lately, this is your sign to head to the nearest state park and just breathe.
Coming back to this place 50 years later feels like stepping into a different lifetime—and yet, it’s exactly the same. ✨ The tracks are still here, the quiet is still here, and the magic is still real. It’s a gentle reminder that no matter how much we change, nature is always waiting to help us find our way back to ourselves. If you need a little escape, find your nearest state park and just go. You’ll be surprised at what you find. 🌿

A little hint for my fellow travelers: I came here looking for absolute quiet, but the park had other plans for me! 🚜 Let’s just say I went on a bit of a chase to find a peaceful spot to sketch, but I eventually found a beautiful patch of lily pads that made the whole trip worth it. It’s the first time I’ve spotted them on this journey! 🪷

A little hint for my fellow travelers: Imagine a place where the towering East Texas pines kiss the shoreline of a serene, sprawling lake. It’s the perfect blend of forest and water, and I spent my time here just soaking in that signature Piney Woods tranquility. 🌲💧

A little hint for my fellow travelers: I came here looking for some “space around my thoughts,” and I found it nestled among some truly massive, beautiful trees. Fun fact: I brought along a rose-scented oil to help me ground myself, which felt extra fitting since this city is famously known as the “Rose Capital” of the country! 🌹🌲

A little hint for my fellow travelers: I honestly didn’t even know this little park existed until I started my quest to visit all 88! It’s tucked away in Leon County and named after the slow-moving creek that flows through it. It’s small, quiet, and exactly the kind of “rest that stays with you” that I’ve been searching for. 🌿💧

A little hint for my fellow travelers: I’ve traded the forest trees for salt air! Today I’m exploring a place where the wide-open beach meets the unique, quiet beauty of the marshlands. It’s one of the few spots in Texas where you can really feel the rhythm of the Gulf Coast breeze. 🌊🐚
