For many women, midlife feels like everything suddenly starts falling apart

Energy drops
Hormones feel off
Weight changes
Digestion shifts

But in many cases, this isn’t something new

It’s the point where the body can no longer compensate for what’s been building over time

Years of stress
Nutrient depletion
Blood sugar dysregulation
Gut imbalances

Eventually, the system reaches a tipping point

And that’s often when women finally start seeking support

From a functional perspective, this is where we begin to look deeper

What is the body missing?
What systems are not being supported?
What has been overlooked?

Nutrition plays a significant role here

Many women are undernourished by this stage
Not necessarily in calories, but in nutrients

Relying on convenient, highly processed foods
Artificial sweeteners
Low-quality ingredients

All of which can disrupt the gut microbiome and contribute to inflammation

At the same time, key nutrients like vitamin D are often depleted
Further impacting energy, immune function, and overall health

The goal is not to overhaul everything overnight

It’s to meet the body where it is

And begin rebuilding from there
Adding in nutrient-dense foods
Supporting the gut
Restoring balance step by step

Because midlife is not the beginning of decline

It’s an opportunity to finally address what your body has been asking for

If you’ve been feeling “off” and not like yourself
Take it as information, not failure

Your body is asking for support
And when you give it what it needs
It can respond in powerful ways

Diabetes risk calculation has been reduced to a couple of static lab values: fasting glucose and HbA1c. But metabolism isn't static-and luckily neither is the science.

On July 31, researchers at Scripps Research Translational Institute published the PROGRESS study in Nature Medicine, and it represents a major shift in thinking about type 2 diabetes prediction.

Instead of a single blood draw to look at two static data points (A1c and glucose) this study used continuous glucose monitors, wearable fitness data, food logs, and gut microbiome analysis-all collected remotely, in real life.

The results?
-A predictive model with an AUC of 0.96
-Strong validation in a separate international cohort
-Clear evidence that glucose patterns over time—not just averages-matter
-And confirmation that the gut microbiome plays a meaningful role in metabolic health

One of the most fascinating findings: people with the same HbA1c often landed in very different risk categories once continuous glucose data and microbial diversity were factored in.

This is the future of health:
Not snapshots-but patterns
Not isolated labs-but systems
Not reactive-but predictive

In my practice, we've been using ALL OF THIS DATA FOR YEARS to help people improve their health, so while this isn't new to us, it sure is exciting to see this new research emerging!

Have you ever considered a CGM wearable to monitor your glucose more precisely? Or HAVE you worn one? Did you love it or hate it? Tell me your thoughts!

Hormones are not “too complicated” to understand.

You just need someone who knows what to look for.

Because if you’re being told your heavy bleeding, acne, PMS, fatigue, perimenopause symptoms, or low libido are “normal” because your basic labs look fine… there’s probably a lot more going on under the surface.

We look at things like:

Mold exposure
Blood sugar
Liver detox pathways
Progesterone and estrogen balance
And how your whole body is functioning together

Because your hormones do not exist in isolation.

Your skin, cycle, energy, mood, metabolism, gut, liver, and environment are all connected.

And once we understand what’s actually driving the imbalance, we can finally stop guessing and start creating a plan that makes sense for your body.

If you’re ready to finally understand your hormones and stop being told “everything looks normal,” comment HELP and we’ll send you the next step.

Hormones are nuanced. And unfortunately, women are often taught to normalize symptoms that are actually signals from the body.

Painful periods. PMS. Fatigue. Weight changes. Mood swings. Hot flashes. Low libido. Acne. Anxiety. Irregular cycles.
These things may be common, but they are not “just part of being a woman.”

At KB Wellness, we take a root cause approach to hormones. That means we’re not interested in simply masking symptoms or throwing random supplements at you without context. We want to understand why your body is struggling in the first place. 🤍

Because hormones are connected to everything:
• your gut
• your nervous system
• your stress levels
• your sleep
• your metabolism
• your detox pathways
• your nutrition and lifestyle

Healing hormones is rarely about one magic fix. It’s about understanding the full picture and supporting the body as a whole.

If you’re tired of feeling dismissed, confused, or stuck in cycles that don’t feel normal, we’d love to help. Comment HELP and we’ll send you more information about working with our team.

Research shows that up to 60% of IBS may be due to gut infections. Anti-Cdtb show up first on the scene, and then, if it progresses Anti-Vinculin shows up indicating autoimmunity that impacts gut motility has developed. The important part here is that if you only have Ctdb you may be able to halt progression. And even if you have Anti Vinculin there are still things you can do to better support your gut than white knuckling through life with IBS or taking harsh meds forever that were meant to be taken for no longer than a week. Your GI will tell you there’s nothing you can do about your IBS. But our gut clients will tell you a different story ;)

Comment help below and I’ll send you info on several options of how to work with us on your gut health.

Why does SIBO keep coming back… even after multiple protocols?

We see this ALL THE TIME. Clients come to us with the same story again and again "I've been treated by my GI for SIBO multiple times but it just keeps coming back".

Well.....it's because it's usually not treated right in the first place AND the underlying cause is usually not addressed - so it just comes back again...and again...and again...

Different types of SIBO require different treatment approaches. A mismatch here can lead to incomplete resolution.

And if underlying drivers like thyroid dysfunction, chronic infections, or impaired motility aren’t addressed, SIBO is likely to return.

Relying on things like probiotics or a low FODMAP diet alone is not enough—and in some cases, can actually make symptoms worse.

SIBO is rarely just a “kill the bacteria” issue. It’s a systems issue.

When you address the full picture, that’s when things actually start to resolve.

If you’ve been stuck in the SIBO cycle, comment SIBO and we’ll send you our guide. Comment Root Cause if you'd like me to send you the link for the full podcast! 🤍

Over half the global population is estimated to carry H. pylori —and most have no idea.

It’s often missed because:
• Testing isn’t routinely done unless symptoms are severe
• Symptoms are vague (or completely absent)
• Many people are told it’s just “reflux” or “stress” and given PPIs or anxiety meds

But here’s what we know from the research:
H. pylori is a major driver of chronic gastric inflammation and is linked to up to 75–89% of gastric cancers. (This does NOT mean that having H Pylori means you will get gastric cancer but it means that the majority of gastric cancer IS from H Pylori).

Inside my practice, we don’t guess. We test. (And honestly? We find H Pylori A LOT! And people feel a whole lot better after our custom designed herbal protocols to eradicate it - which we always validate with repeat testing too!).

We use advanced stool testing to identify:
• Presence of H. pylori
• Virulence factors (how aggressive it is)
• The broader gut environment it’s interacting with

Because eradication isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Protocols need to be:
• Targeted
• Tolerable
• Designed around your gut, not a generic plan

If you’ve been dealing with:
– reflux
– bloating
– chronic gut issues
– or even no symptoms but want to be proactive

This is something worth ruling out.

Comment “HELP” below if you want more information on testing or working together.

And share this and send it to a friend so they can get screened for H Pylori too!

In conventional care IBD is all about medication management. Not necessarily improving the health of the patient. But that’s where we can come in and partner with your current care, and help you FINALLY get back to living your life again symptom free.

When symptoms flare, the assumption is:➡️ “It’s just ithe way it is with me sometimes” ➡️ “Guess we need to increase meds”➡️ “No one knows what caused this flare”

But research shows that pathogens like C. diff, E. coli, and other gut infections can:• Trigger flares• Worsen symptoms• Complicate treatment response

Meaning… you could be missing a big piece of the puzzle in your current flare.

But that’s just one piece of the puzzle. Even when you’re not in a flare…you have WAY more power than you know.

We’ve worked with many IBD clients and we take a root cause approach - looking at potential hidden infections, dietary triggers, microbiome balance, nutrient defieciencies, and lifestyle factors as well.

Rather than just dealing with IBD symptom roller coaster for life - we’ve been able to help our clients shed all their symptoms and go back to living a more normal life again.

We take a root cause approach to everything we do - and histamine is no different. We don’t just mask it with anti histamines or recommend a low histamine diet forever (in fact - we don’t believe any type of restrictive diets should EVER be long term or the goal. Temporary tool? Sure. Forever? Nope).

There are two phases to our work with “histamine” clients. First up we want you comfortable. So we’ll make some short term changes with you right away to achieve that. Second and most important is finding the why behind your histamine struggles. Is it your gut? Your environment? Do you have MCAS? Or allergies? THIS is the part where we have to be detectives and work closely with you to find your root cause and resolve it. It might not be quick. But it will be worth it.

Want our help? Type HELP below and I’ll send you a link to book a discovery call with me where we’ll meet and talk more about your symptoms and see if working with us is the right fit for you. ❤️
