The pelvic floor muscles are part of your core. It’s important to know how to connect to them, not only for your Pilates workouts, but for the overall health of those muscles. A too loose or too tight pelvic floor can have many effects on the body. It’s always a good idea to see a pelvic floor specialist to check up on things 😉

The reformer is a Pilates apparatus that we love incorporating into our treatment plans at ATL Pelvic Health. The springs on the Reformer act as assistance as we move our spine in different directions to work on mobility and hip + core strength. Movement is healing and should feel good. Here’s your daily reminder to drink more water! We encourage patients to aim for drinking half your body weight in fluid ounces each day (i.e. if you weigh 150 pounds, aim for 75 fluid ounces each day). Water is beneficial for so many reasons. It can help reduce bladder irritation and improve bowel movements so you can have optimal health of your pelvic floor!

What have you done for self-care lately? Prioritizing ourselves in a life that is constantly busy- thinking about the next thing on our to-do list can be tough. Here are some ways we like to slow down and take some time to show ourselves love.
✨ Write three things you are grateful for every day
✨ Spend time outside
✨ Pause for 5 minutes to focus on slow, deep breaths
✨ Take an epsom salt bath
✨ Spend some time with our foam roller
✨ Read a good book
What ways do you like to show your body self-care?

It’s the start of a new month, what goals are you setting for yourself? Don’t let self-doubt keep you from dreaming big! Take a few slow, deep breaths and inhale all the confidence you need. You’ve got this 👊🏼!

Raise your hand if you have ever felt stiff in your back, especially between your shoulder blades. 🙋🏼♀️This is super common because of the amount of time we spend sitting either in our cars commuting to work 🚗, at our desks 💻, on our phones 📱, or feeding our babies 🤱🏽. Did you know restrictions in how our spine is able to rotate may lead to pelvic floor dysfunction including leakage with exercise? Lying on your side and rotating open as if you are wringing your spine out like a wet washcloth is one of our favorite ways to add some mobility to our days. Give this a try and let us know if you have any questions!
