A question we get a lot: "I only have two boxes — is it even worth mailing?"

There's no minimum. The smallest option on our request form is "1–6 boxes," and shipping is always 100% on us — either a free postage-paid kit or a QR code you show on your phone at the counter. A small shipment costs you nothing to send.

Ever returned an online order by showing a QR code at the counter? Sending us your unused diabetic supplies works the same way. Request a free QR code on our website (it usually arrives by email within about 15 minutes), pack your supplies in any sturdy box, and bring the box and the code on your phone to any Post Office or The UPS Store. They scan it and print the label for you. A $10 bonus is added to your payout when your shipment is inspected and contains qualifying supplies. Two Dexcom G7 boxes can look almost the same — same size, same design, same applicator. The difference is on the box.

Check the product logo on the front. The newer sensor says "G7 15 Day" right in the logo. If your box just says "G7" with no mention of 15 Day, it's the original 10-day version. That's the quickest and most reliable way to tell. If a sensor is already paired, the Dexcom G7 app will also show you which one it is.

Here's a worry we hear a lot, and it's a fair one: what happens if you ship us a box and we can't buy it? So here's exactly what happens. We email you photos of the box along with a plain explanation of why it didn't pass inspection — you see what our inspectors saw. If you'd like the supplies back, just ask, and we'll send them back to you at no return-shipping cost. Most boxes that don't pass have a broken seal or a government-program label on them, which we aren't able to purchase. Here's the question our inspectors get more than any other: how much time does my box need before it expires? The answer depends on what's inside it. Test strips need 10 or more months left for the full payout — 3 to 9 months pays half, and under 3 months we're not able to accept. CGM sensors and pods run on a different clock: 6 or more months for the full payout, 4 to 6 months at half, under 4 months we can't take. Either way the box has to be factory-sealed — opened, torn or stained boxes we can't buy, and cosmetic damage like dents or sticker residue takes another 50% off. Quick heads-up if you're waiting on a digital payment from us — the payment link doesn't come from Cash for Diabetics. It comes from Dots, our payment partner, and that's expected.

After we inspect your kit you'll get two messages: an email from us at [email protected] confirming what was in your box and what your payout is, and a separate email and text from Dots with a secure link to claim it. Dots will text you a 6-digit code to verify it's you, then you pick how you'd like the money sent.

If you don't see the Dots message, check your spam or junk folder first — that's where it usually is. Links expire after 30 days, and if yours already has, just email us and we'll issue a new one. And if a message ever looks off to you, don't click it. Email us and we'll confirm it before you do anything.

When do you tell us how you want to be paid? Up front. You pick your payment method right on the request form, before your supplies ever leave your hands — Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, ACH, a digital check by email, or a paper check in the mail. After your shipment is inspected and approved, Venmo, Cash App, PayPal and digital checks go out the same business day; ACH lands the next business day, and mailed paper checks take 2–8 days through USPS.
