Went and saw yesterday for a new addition to the collection (peep my private page if you want to check it out), but it was actually mostly predicated by one of my favorite little dude’s birthday haircut.
I genuinely love this little dude, and I’m lucky he and his mom still insist that I cut his hair; it’s a nice reminder that even with my conflicting feelings on my semi retirement, I still very much love to cut hair.
Plus, getting to watch Jackson become this super caring, inquisitive, and unabashedly weird young man warms my heart so very much.
No matter the outcome, being a barber still stands as the best thing (besides a dad) that I’ve ever done.

We planned for a year for this day, and it was absolutely perfect.

Two weeks ago I was told by my boss at Lex’s that my partner Haley (who had gotten me the job and mostly the reason I went there after leaving CoC) was being fired; I was not only told that it was unprofessional to explain to me why but also she agreed that whatever that reason was had nothing to do with performance.
Fret not; she’s already back at work at a shop she had worked at previously and is very happy, despite literally never being told by anyone other than me that she was fired.
So I had some decisions to make, and I definitely felt like this was not going to be the place for me.

Happy holidays fam, the very beautiful and amazing .satan said yes to my Christmas Day proposal and baby Mackenzie and I are both very stoked as you can see 😍

I’m blessed beyond measure, this beautiful baby girl is healthy, happy and loved beyond belief and I spend most of my days watching her enter this world as she turns two months tomorrow. Now to bring our little family together under one name, as old school as it is means quite a bit to both of us, and we’re very excited to move forward with our elopement ceremony in Vegas.

I knew the second I saw you that my life was instantly changed.
Ms. Mackenzie Grace joined us right on time, via cesarean, on October 28th just after 7 pm and both her and .satan have been resting and recovering at home and we are so very grateful for everyone who showed their support in any way; it truly takes a village.
Getting to the end of my paternity leave, I’m just posting to let y’all know that my books are officially open for the weekend of the 23rd and very excited to get my hands in some hair. We had to say goodbye to our princess yesterday, and we are beyond devastated.
The last 6 months has been hard; her little body fought for as long as it could, I truly believe she tried to make sure she met baby Mackenzie, but we finally had to let her go in peace.
She came to us at a time when neither of us felt like we had the space emotionally, but we also weren’t going to let her go to a shelter when Haley’s family could no longer care for her. She instantly changed both of our lives, and in the wake of losing Char and Georgia, was the only thing I had to keep me moving through my grief of that loss. She was my heart, my road buddy, my literal constant companion; my only regret was not being there to say goodbye, but I will never forget that last night cuddled with her on the floor feeling her little body shake uncontrollably.
She was 30 pounds of attitude, but if you were her people she loved you more than anything.
You made me believe I could be a daddy and I will never ever forget you my little squish 🖤

Service announcement!

To all my dedicated clients and friends, it’s quickly becoming the time to prepare for the arrival of Ms. Mackenzie Grace, as of now she’s still expected to make her debut on 10/28 and .satan and I are so excited to finally meet her 🖤

What this means is that next week will be my final full time week at the World Famous Clipper Over Comb Barber Shop before I go on paternity leave for 3 weeks. Upon my return, I will be taking advantage of my books still being pretty lean, to get to experience some full time dad status; meaning for the first 6 months I am expecting to only work Saturdays and Sundays.

What does this mean for y’all?!

Mostly it’s just getting comfortable with our Squire booking system to check my availability and book your services, my schedule has already been updated to reflect my paternity leave and after next week I will only have Saturday and Sunday’s as my bookable days. Both days will continue to be 10-7 to accommodate as many folx during those days, and fear not Fancy Friday aficionados we will continue to dress to the nines on Sundays for 🙏🏻

So if prefer weekdays, make sure you book this next week and we can help you find a better barber to meet your needs, but those that can make it in on the weekends I promise we will be here striving for nothing but great haircuts.

Today, your last Fancy Friday for August, is the first of your last 3 days to get in the chair with me before I take an extended birthday break to get tattooed, take Misty to get her stomach drained, and then accompany the one and only Morgan or the Sound on his pilgrimage back to his hometown of Santa Fe to experience ZozoBra.

That being said, to be frank my bookings have been dismal and my feedback from those around me has been less than desirable; potentially I may have to lessen my days in the shop only to allow myself to find a second job as I am currently financially drowning.

As always any developments will be communicated as soon as I’m aware, but my thoughts are that I may only be able to stay in the shop two days a week; if you want to support my barbering efforts the best way to do that is to book appointments with me via that Handy, Dandy Book Now button on my page and leaving a review with my name on the Clipper Over Comb Barber Shop google and/or page.

This summer has been one of the hardest of my life, and knowing that I am falling short of so many things that matter so much to me has easily been the most difficult part of this transition back to Denver; I have not felt so much the weak link in my shop since Floyd’s and it has definitely left me feeling very isolated given everything I’ve tried to do to be a good barber.

One day, one step at a time.
