One Herb helps Stop Hair Loss And Boost Hair Growth, try this | Hair & Skin Care

There are about 100,000 strands of hair on your scalp and it is considered very normal to lose 50 to 100 strands a day. But when you start losing more than that, it’s time for you to take some action so it doesn’t progress to baldness or bald spots. Learn more about a readily available, natural remedy... Natural hair loss is a common side-effect of aging, when our hair follicles start shrinking and start producing thinner hairs with a shorter life cycle. However

How to know if short hair will suit you

Are you wondering if short hair is a good look for you? All you need is a ruler and a pencil

Whether your hair is dyed or au naturel, sunlight bleaches it out. Unfortunately, results can be unpredictable and unattractive. Although natural hair might take on subtle highlights from the sun, processed hair can turn brassy and lose shine.

How to create a "sunblock" for hair:
Because there's no effective chemical product or dye designed to counteract the impact of ultraviolet rays on hair (though added SPF helps), a wide-brimmed hat is really your best weapon for summer hair care. Try one made from a tightly woven UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) fabric. A good bet is Sun Precautions Rolled Brim Hat ($53;—it's crushable, lightweight, and made from a Solumbra fabric with 30-plus SPF that blocks more than 97% of UVA and UVB rays.

In a fix:
Although no product is fool-proof, one specifically formulated to shield hair from the sun is better than nothing. Before venturing outdoors, spray wet or dry hair with PhytoPlage Protective Beach Hair Spray ($22; or your everyday leave-in hair conditioner. Respritz each time you put sunscreen on your skin.
Have a WONDERFUL and safe summer!!!

TUESDAY TIP FOR 4/13/16 (OMG... Did I miss a week???)

Ok... So, this week's tip is not about the health of your hair, but rather: How do you find the perfect stylist for YOU.

First and foremost... Schedule a consultation! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise: You’re entitled to a consultation and any decent stylist will offer this for FREE. If a stylist does not offer free consultations, skip them.

A consultation should be booked in advance and is generally a fifteen minute appointment, during which the stylist should be forthcoming. Feel free to bring pictures!! We don't hate them... we LOVE them!! This ensures that we're both on the same page.

The first thing I always look at is the client's "style." When you go for a consultation, let the stylist see the REAL you! If you're a; Harley Babe, don't come in dressed like Holly Hobby. We want your new style to reflect the REAL you. This is a strong indicator of what hair style they will feel comfortable sporting on a daily basis. Be sure to let the stylist know, exactly what you're willing to do, as far as daily styling and maintenance. If you NEVER blow dry your hair, TELL HER/HIM!! We don't want to give you a style that you'll never be able to maintain.

Though stylists in reputable salons are theoretically equal in skill, we all have our unique passions and strengths. If you and your stylist are both excited by the same stuff, it’s going be an awesome match!

If you're interested in learning something about how to create/maintain beautifully healthy hair go to!

In the same way that a cold water rinse closes your pores, a cold water rinse will also shut down your hair's cuticle, enhancing shine and eliminating FRIZZ!

After conditioning, rinse your hair with cold water. This helps to seal the cuticle, making it harder for moisture to enter the hair follicle, which can cause frizz.

For those of you out there who embrace your gray hair, here's one for you!! To keep your naturally beautiful color naturally beautiful, shampoo gray hair every day with a violet-colored shampoo. Although the typical advice for shampoo frequency is, "The less often, the better," this rule doesn't actually apply to gray hair. By nature of its light color, gray hair gets duller, dirtier, and drier than darker shades, making it important to shampoo and condition it daily. The purpose of the violet-colored shampoo is to neutralize the yellowish tinge that often taints gray hair, allowing its glimmering white tones to shine through.

[03/02/16]   TUESDAY TIP FOR 3/2/16 (One day late…Sorry!!)

Could Pumpkin Seeds Reverse Balding?

Although we’re on the home stretch of the winter season, people who struggle with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) are feeling their worst. At this time of year, the accumulation of chilly, dark, gray days over the course of the winter have taken their toll. When attempting to manage SAD, it’s important to sleep well, get out of the house, prioritize physical activity and eat a healthy, balanced, highly plant-based diet that’s low in sugar and rich in Omega-3 fats. Today, I’m going to tell you about 6 foods that you’ll want to have on hand in your pantry and fridge all winter long for, not only an extra boost of blues protection, but also a boost in hair growth!!
- Brazil nuts are loaded with selenium, which is a highly effective mood booster! They’re so rich in this mineral that just two a day can significantly increase the amount of selenium circulating in your body.
Although selenium is considered a trace mineral, a deficiency in your diet is associated with poor hair growth. This is because selenium helps your body process proteins responsible for hair growth, according to “Men’s Fitness” magazine. Even if you have enough protein in your diet, a lack of selenium can prevent your hair from growing at its best possible rate. Plus, Brazil nuts (like most nuts) are loaded with several mood-boosting B vitamins. Crumble a couple Brazil nuts on top of a salad, a bowl of oatmeal or fresh berries. **Note that this does not mean Brazil nuts can reverse severe hair loss, such as that of male pattern baldness. They can, however, improve slow hair growth due to poor nutrition. AND, while Brazil nuts may help encourage hair growth, they should be consumed in small amounts to prevent harmful health effects from excess intake. Always talk with your physician before adding Brazil nuts to your dietary intake.

- Pumpkin seeds are the perfect wintertime food because of their magnesium content. Just 1/4 cup of this crunchy treat has 50% the daily recommended magnesium intake. This incredible mineral promotes relaxation, better sleep and anxiety relief. And like Brazil nuts, pumpkin seeds are great salad toppers and an awesome addition to trail mix or your favorite chickpea hummus recipe. If THAT isn’t enough reason to NOT through these little guys away when carving pumpkins, according to GreenMedInfo, researchers with Pusan National University in the Republic of Korea have confirmed that pumpkin seed oil is able to increase hair growth among balding men. Site: (
A group of 76 men with male pattern hair loss were divided into two groups—half receiving a placebo and the other receiving 400 mg of pumpkin seed oil per day in capsule form. The oil was spaced out through the day, with participants receiving two capsules before breakfast and two before dinner.
After three months and again after six months, the participants were assessed and assigned a score from -3 for “greatly decreased” to +3 for “greatly increased”. Their scalps were also photographed using something known as phototrichography, allowing for the hair loss region to be precisely measured.
- Dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa and unsweetened is best) has polyphenols which help to elevate mood and relieve anxiety and depression. Site: ( And when it comes to food for hair health, dark chocolate is among the BEST!
Dark chocolate contains a number of important vitamins and minerals, such as copper, zinc, and iron, in addition to a number of B-complex vitamins, that are known to improve hair health. These vitamins and minerals help promote cell renewal process which leads to healthy growth and stronger hair follicles.
Dark chocolate is also rich in antioxidants and contains flavonoids to help fight free radicals and prevent damage to the hair and scalp. And with incredible anti-inflammatory properties, it also helps minimizing scalp inflammation, eczema and dandruff.
When placed directly on the hair, dark chocolate can provide the hair with some amazing benefits. It can help stimulate hair growth by increasing oxygen and blood flow to the scalp and lead to healthier and strong hair. As a result, those who regularly use chocolate treatments on their hair may notice a significant different in the length and thickness of it in only a short amount of time. Site: (
- Lentils are folic acid powerhouses—one cup cooked has 90% of your daily recommended intake. Folic acid regulates the production of the “feel good” and energizing hormone serotonin, making it especially helpful in preventing depression and enhancing mood. It also helps the body generate new cells, keeping you more energized in winter months. In addition, the complex carbohydrates in lentils boost tryptophan production, which in turn boosts—you guessed it—serotonin production.
Because lentils are rich in Iron and folic acid, which are essential for hair growth, as they increase the supply of oxygen to the brain which propels hair growth. Likewise, folic acid also improves hair growth by transporting oxygen from your blood to the hair follicles. Lentils are also high in protein, which is also essential for cell building. Site: (

- Spinach is especially high in iron, which helps keep our red blood cells oxygenated and our bodies energized. It’s also a surprisingly rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids, which may help alleviate depression in winter months. And the benefits don’t stop there. Spinach is potassium- and magnesium-packed, which assists with regulating stress hormones and sleep cycles. Last, but not least, its vitamin C content helps fights fatigue and depression.

As far as hair growth is concerned, it’s the aforementioned vitamin C, as well as vitamin A and protein, which the body uses to produce oils in the scalp, that can help increase hair growth. Vitamin A and vitamin C deficiencies can increase hair loss or lead to brittle, thin hair that does not grow as quickly. Site: (

- Flax seeds are packed with depression-blocking Omega-3 fatty acids (as mentioned above, these help your body maintain healthy levels of feel-good brain chemicals). Two tablespoons a day contain 133% of the recommended daily dose of Omega 3s! You can purchase them already ground or grind them yourself in a coffee bean grinder to get their full benefit. They can be use as an egg substitute in baking or for French toast (1 tablespoon ground flax seeds + 3 tablespoons water = 1 egg). You could also toss them into hot cereal or oatmeal, stir them into almond butter for dipping apple or celery slices or whisk some into a salad dressing.
How do flaxseeds encourage hair growth? Hair loss, dandruff, itchy scalp, damaged hair are all attributable to a poor diet, exposure to pollution and excessive use of chemical treatments. When hair follicles do not receive sufficient nutrition, your hair appears dull, dry and lifeless.
The Omega-3 fatty acids in flaxseeds are one of the essential nutrients for your hair follicles. The Omega 3 acids improve the elasticity of your hair thus reducing breakage of hair and making it strong and healthy.
Lignans present in flaxseeds exhibit anti-inflammatory properties and help in treating dandruff. Lignans also help heal inflammations caused due to dandruff or an itchy scalp thus promoting hair growth and healthy scalp. Site: ( Researchers analyzing 76 balding men found that 44 percent of the group taking pumpkin seed oil had slightly or moderately improved hair growth.
