The oh so beautiful Touloulou of French Guiana 🇬🇫 Part of the lead up to their Carnival from January til Carnival day, a space of no judgement just joy. Beautiful videos by @et_si_on_partait_en_guyane : is currently the carnival period in French Guiana Mand during this period masked balls are organized. These balls are organized in dance halls where an orchestra plays carnival songs while women disguised as “touloulou” invite the dancer of their choice to dance. Anonymity is one of the most sacred rules to respect during these evenings, only women disguised as “touloulou” can dance (it is a typical tradition of carnival in French Guiana. There are generally 3 kinds of songs played during these evenings the “biguine”, the “mazurka” and the “piké djouk”. In this video it is the “piké djouk”.
