The Hives Come Alive ❤️🐝
Our Bio:
The air in Dickson, Tennessee, hummed with possibility that spring morning. I stood before my first beehive, a wooden stack I’d painted myself, feeling like a nervous parent. The bees, thousands of them, had arrived the day before in a buzzing package that made my heart race. I’d read every beekeeping book I could find, watched countless videos, and even took local bee classes, but nothing prepared me for the moment I’d become a beekeeper.
I pulled on my brown suit, the veil fogging slightly with my breath. The smoker in my hand puffed gently, its pine-scented clouds calming the bees as I lifted the hive’s lid. Inside, a golden city thrived—bees danced in patterns, their wings catching the sunlight. I checked the frames, my gloved fingers trembling as I spotted the queen, her long abdomen marked with a dot of green paint. She was the heart of this colony, and I felt an unspoken pact with her: I’d protect her home, and she’d share her honey.
That first season wasn’t easy. A late frost threatened the wildflowers the bees loved, and I lost sleep worrying about their food. But when I extracted my first jar of raw honey, spinning the frames in a hand-cranked extractor, I tasted victory. It was floral, thick, and unmistakably mine. I labeled it “Raw Local Honey, Aunt Bee’s Honey Farm, Dickson, Tennessee,” the rustic design reflecting my love for simplicity and tradition. Holding that jar, I knew this was more than a business—it was a calling.
