Patience is a virtue. Some things are meant to be. And sometimes, the greatest lesson is learning to give a little grace.

When we listed this cute Parkview home, the goal was to get it sold quickly so the sellers could make the move for their next chapter. Within a week, they had knocked the prep work out of the park. The house was beautifully decluttered, freshly cleaned from top to bottom and thoughtfully staged. It didn’t take long to attract attention, and we soon had a fantastic offer in place. We were feeling good about a timely closing…until things didn’t go quite as planned.

Real estate has a way of reminding you that even the best-laid plans don’t always go as expected. When a home sale and a home purchase depend on one another, there are a lot of moving pieces, a lot of people counting on things to come together, and a whole lot of stress when they don’t.

There were conversations, negotiations, adjustments, prayers and a few moments when we all had to take a deep breath and keep going. Through it all, both buyers and sellers gave one another a whole lot of grace and commitment to see this contract through.

It may not have happened on the 1st or 2nd closing date, but the 3rd time really was the charm! Yesterday, when that notification finally came through saying “We have recorded!”, everyone involved could breathe a collective sigh of relief.

It’s a good reminder that while getting a home under contract is a huge milestone, the path from contract to closing isn’t always a straight line. Often it takes patience, persistence, problem-solving and a willingness to give people a little grace when life doesn’t follow the timeline we had planned.

Yesterday was a good day.
