I’m all about connecting; how about you?

As I reflected on my list of what makes my heart sing from yesterday's note, I realized they all shared a common thread: connection.

Today, I connected differently by volunteering for Feed My Starving Children at an event held at my church.

We assembled Manna Rice kits that included vitamins, dried vegetables, dried soy, and rice.

Using an assembly-line process, we put each food item in a pouch, then sealed it and packed it in a box.

In our 2-hour shift, approximately 60 volunteers packed 63 boxes of 32 pouches each.

It was enough to feed over 1,000 children.

It felt really good!

I worked on an assembly line with four other people: two I knew from church; another who turned out to be a former colleague from my corporate job, whom I didn’t even know attended my church; and a woman I had never met before.

I made one new connection, nurtured my connection with two I already knew, and reconnected with someone I knew from my past corporate life.

Connecting while serving others feels like a meaningful part of my healing journey.
