On Saturday, August 29, 2026 Roc-A-Natural Cultural Foundation, Inc. Roc-A-Natural, I was honored to be invited to attend the official launch of Kelvin Richards' campaign for Justice of the Supreme Court, Richmond County and speak on the man of the hour.
I had the pleasure of meeting Kelvin Richards back in 2021 as the NYC Councilmember candidate and his generous support to Roc-A-Natural Cultural Foundation Inc's inaugural Taking It To The Streets: Free Friday Night Films! Since then, anytime I or anyone I refer to him is in need of assistance, he always answers the call; and if he can't help, he refers you to the right person who can.
"It takes a village to raise a child" is an African proverb that means that an entire community of people must interact with children for those children to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment. I am extremely happy to know that Kelvin Richards, Candidate for Supreme Court Judge is a part of the Northshore village.
Kelvin Richards is a Public Defender with the Legal Aid Society in Staten Island. An attorney that represents indigent people and fights to protect their constitutional rights. Mr. Richards will continue to fight for all as the Supreme Court Judge of Richmond County. Please go out and vote on November 3, 2026!

We are thrilled to share a special highlight in preparation for the Roc-A-Natural Cultural Foundation Inc’s 5th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival. Artist Serena Smith, owner of Mona Oman, has created a beautiful "1865" art piece for our commemorative tree at Tappen Park. This work honors the year of African American freedom in Galveston, Texas.
A huge thank you to Serena for her talent and to Lowe's on Forest Avenue, Staten Island, NY for donating the canvas cloth. To learn more or book Serena for your next project, visit Monaoman.com or follow her on Instagram and Facebook at .

Stand united with the African-American community and march in Roc-A-Natural Cultural Foundation Inc's 5th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Parade & Freedom Festival at Tappen Park to remember and celebrate Freedom Day on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 11:00am to 6pm.
Kick-off the day at the JUNETEENTH FREEDOM PARADE: Lineup starts at 11:00AM on School Road & Bay Street(outside of Von Briesen Park & Ft Wadsworth), Staten Island, NY 10305.
PARADE ENDS at 1:00PM Bay Street (Water & Canal Streets)
This year's Juneteenth Freedom Parade continues to be significant because we will be marching on Bay Street and through the Rosebank Corridor, which during the 60's through the 80's, people of color were at risk of being beaten if they tried to step foot in Rosebank. On June 19, 2026, we are thrilled to be standing united with our neighboring communities and march through these liberated streets as we commemorate and celebrate the oldest celebration of Freedom in the United States, Freedom Day.
