We need your help! Our Compliance team has been working around the clock monitoring posts made online by Wellness Advocates to remove any reference to Coronavirus or COVID-19. Today doTERRA was referenced in a CNBC article:

“CNBC has found dozens of examples where sellers for multilevel marketing, or MLM, companies, such as doTerra and Young Living, claim on Facebook that their products can prevent consumers from getting coronavirus.”

If you will remember, the FDA warning letter that was issued to doTERRA in 2015 had nothing to do with our corporate marketing but rather due to well meaning Wellness Advocates making reference to the Ebolla virus.

I cannot stress enough the seriousness of the situation. You must step up as the CEO of your business and protect it. We need your help in reaching out personally to your team to ensure they understand how imperative it is that we are compliant in our marketing. We have committed to the FDA to be lawful in our marketing. Please help us keep our commitment.

With the current state around COVID-19 we need to be extra careful that things posted online by Wellness Advocates are very compliant. We would never want regulators or anyone to think we are trying to capitalize on the current fear and stress surrounding the global pandemic.

Here are some quick reference dos and don’ts that will help you and your teams feel confident in your sharing. These are examples, but be cautious. Please do not state any disease in the same post/video as essential oils or doTERRA product. Thanks for your leadership from the top to help all of your teams be mindful while we have major added scrutiny right now.

Do post:
-doTERRA On Guard (or other product) helps support the body’s natural immune system.

-doTERRA [insert product] is part of a daily regimen that supports a healthy body.

Do NOT post:
-doTERRA [insert product] helps you when you are sick.
-doTERRA [insert product] helps protect you from Coronavirus/COVID-19
-doTERRA [insert product] helps you recover when you have [insert any named disease]
-doTERRA [insert product] helps fight viruses.
Essential oils prevent viruses.
-Essential oils kill pathogens and attack immune threats.
-Keep your body safe right now by stocking up on essential oils
-Do not and or in the same post.

A note about DIYs when you are teaching people to make their own replacements: On Guard Sanitizing Mist is an approved OTC. When you make your own (which is a great idea) it would need to be called On Guard Hand Mist. On Guard+ Softgels can also be done DIY with veggie caps.
