A quick PSA for my girls who may not know they're already exfoliating~

As an esthetician, I try my best to educate clients about the effects of AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids) and vitamin A derivatives like retinol, glycolic acid, lactic acid, Differin, etc. These common ingredients are exfoliating agents that work by promoting the shedding of dead skin cells from the surface, revealing fresher skin underneath. AHAs help by loosening the bonds between skin cells, while retinol and Differin accelerate skin turnover by increasing cell renewal. The increased skin sensitivity and thinness caused by these ingredients can make you more susceptible to redness, discomfort, or even injury during these procedures. To ensure the best and safest results, I recommend stopping these products for at least a few days to a week before such treatments.
