The Benefits of Massage:

1. Posture gradually improves as the muscles around the spine become more flexible and less tense.

2. Circulation is encouraged, which is good for muscle recovery and healing

3. Massage encourages deeper breathing, helping oxygen circulate encouraging healing and growth

4. Joint flexibility is increased and tension relieved

5. A calm mind is encouraged by massage along with a completely relaxed body.

6. A massage is claimed to boast alertness and improve attention.

7. The cortisol that is decreased by massage is said to boast your lymph flow and immune cells (though I think the massage I had by the sneezing, sniffing masseuse in Bali probably didn’t have such a benefit to my immune system)

8. The decrease in cortisol and increase in serotonin and dopamine provided by the massage may also reduce stress, anxiety and depression.

How to Burn Out in 7 Years... or Less!

•Do as many massages a day as humanly possible.
•Only schedule enough time in between clients to change the linens on the table.
•Fuel up on gummi bears and Mt. Dew during your work day.
•Forget everything you ever learned about proper body mechanics.
•Use your thumbs AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE in your work.
•Consider doing massage as your daily requirement for "exercise" and never do anything additional for your body.
•Try to work 7 or 8 days a week.
•Don't stretch - this is for sissies.
•Say YES to everything and everyone - especially clients.
•Never learn any new techniques. Stick to the exact same work you've been doing since massage school so you're sure to be bored out of your mind.
•Play the same massage music every day... for years.
•Charge just enough to feed yourself and possible not make your mortgage or rent payment each month.
•Take on all of your client's emotional and physical baggage yourself - make yourself a martyr.
•Give all of yourself all the time to every one....except yourself.
•Don't learn to work with any kind of tools.
•Spend your off time doing hands-heavy hobbies like playing piano, gardening, kneading dough, etc.
•And last but not least:
Never receive any bodywork yourself!

Let’s just be honest. Everyone has gas issues. Some more than others, that’s true, but none of us are immune to the “vapors” as ladies of the past so elegantly put it.

We all know the awkwardness of experiencing gas at the wrong place at the wrong time. Gas can be obviously embarrassing, but it can also be painful in some cases. In fact, what many people assume is indigestion is sometimes gas trapped high up in the digestive system. This type of gas is extremely painful and can even be alarming at times as it manifests itself as sharp chest pains. No one takes sharp chest pains lightly.

Emergency room workers will tell you they have dealt with their share of frightened patients who thought they were having a heart attack, only to find out later they just needed to burp, or you know the other alternative. But the point is, gas is an issue with few remedies that are openly discussed.

Though you will not likely find this use plastered to the side of most bottles of essential oils, there are a few herbs out there that can help with this delicate problem.
Peppermint

Peppermint has so many wonderful uses; it is no wonder that you can add gas reduction to the list. Peppermint can have a very soothing effect on the digestive system in a myriad of ways. Excessive gas can be almost immediately relived by sipping peppermint tea. The added bonus is that sipping tea looks so refined, no one would ever suspect your real reason.
Garlic

Garlic is another herb used for a variety of ailments. For reducing excessive gas try using an infusion of garlic mixed in warm milk. The added bonus, warm milk often has sedative effects and can be great way to relax in the evening.
Sassafras

This herb has been used for centuries for all types of stomach troubles. It helps with indigestion, loose stool, nausea, and excessive gas. Gas is often just a normal result of our digestive processes. If you have had a large meal, well, you can guess the possible results. Sassafras can be used in a delightful after dinner tea. Simply bring 8 ounces of water to a boil then add equal parts of Fennel seed, lemongrass, sliced ginger root and a bit of cardamom.
Watch What Your Eat

Another helpful tip is to be careful of what you eat. Certain foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, beans, lentils and oats are big offenders. If you are going to be in a situation in which you really do not want to deal with excessive gas, avoiding these types of foods could make it easier for you. If gas continues to be such a problem that it becomes invasive into your life or if gas is becoming increasingly painful there may be a more serious problem in your tummy. It is always a good idea to consult your doctor. Even though it is an embarrassing condition, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
