Congratulations to Dr. Edward Chang for receiving the prestigious O’Donoghue Sports Injury Award from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. This award is given to the best overall clinical research study and Dr. Chang was chosen among 22 finalists.

His study found that early use of blood flow restriction training – similar to a blood pressure cuff – following ACL reconstruction is beneficial to slowing muscle atrophy, and improving strength and early post-operative pain. His findings may change how clinicians and therapists approach early strengthening following ACL reconstruction.

Dr. Chang’s research will now be considered for publication in the American Journal of Sports Medicine. We are proud to have him as part of our team and leading the way in orthopedic research.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Courtney Quinn to our team! Dr. Quinn is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and foot and ankle surgery.

Dr. Quinn completed her orthopedic surgery residency training at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Virginia (UVA). While at UVA, she also served as an assistant team physician for the football, women’s basketball, and women’s lacrosse teams. Prior to her arrival at Inova, she completed a mini-fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO, where she helped care for the U.S. Ski team.
