‘You Don’t Look Anorexic’
Eating disorders come in all shapes and sizes. Yes, you can be Anorexic and binge and purge, you can be Anorexic and be obese. You can also be well underweight and not have Anorexia. You can not look at someone and know if they have an eating disorder.
Eating disorders are also common in fitness professionals as their livelihood relies on how they look. Clients will not hire a trainer if they deem them overweight, no matter their skill and education, as they feel they can not apply it to themselves.
I love this quote as I have found this to me closest to the truth with my client base. It is the connection and my attunement to their needs that has helped them more than my body size and how much I weight.
"Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care."-Theodore Roosevelt
‘You Don’t Look Anorexic’ New research shows that our assumptions about eating disorders are often wrong — and that many larger-bodied people are starving themselves.

Contralateral Effects – Train One Limb and the Other Limb Becomes Stronger
I have had and currently have clients with injuries that require sessions to be modified and not use the injured limb. I still work the good side. I learned of this from a trainer while I was rehabbing from my own injuries.
"The implications for contralateral effects are tremendous. Any patient/client who has had an injury, and therefore immobilization / disuse for a period of time, should be able to preserve the strength of the musculature of the immobilized limb by performing resistance training of the healthy, non-immobilized limb."

Weight stigma for women has some doctors feeling wary of new obesity counseling recommendations
This article caught my eye this morning. When I came to this little tid bit I lost my mind. I am 5'2 127lbs and 55yrs old. This woman is 107lbs but feels shame for being 10lbs more than she was! That means she was 97bs! I would think this was a typo but not in this culture. Anyone want to share their thoughts?
"But Samantha Slaven-Bick, 51, a Los Angeles publicist, said she would not appreciate such counseling. She is well aware that she’s gained some weight over the last decade. At 5 feet, 2 inches tall and 107 pounds, she’s not overweight but still weighs more than she did in her 20s and 30s."
Weight stigma for women has some doctors feeling wary of new obesity counseling recommendations New recommendations suggest women ages 40 to 60 get advice about maintaining weight to stave off serious illness.

Exercise may lower your cancer risk and help if you get the disease
Even going through cancer treatment should not top you from exercising.
“Even if you just walk to the mailbox and back, or just take a single flight of stairs, any movement, however brief or light, is likely to have some benefits,”
"The federal government’s guidelines recommend at least 150 minutes of aerobic activity every week, along with at least two sessions of muscle-strengthening resistance training for healthy adults as well as those with chronic conditions or disabilities, advising the latter to work out under the supervision of a health-care provider. This could vary, however, for some cancer patients undergoing treatment, experts say. For example, resistance training may be more valuable for those with muscle loss than aerobics, while aerobics might help patients also at heart disease risk.
Regardless, they agree it’s better to do something than nothing."
Exercise may lower your cancer risk and help if you get the disease Research also is starting to show it’s possible to quantify how much of a workout may make a difference after a diagnosis of the illness.
