Two of our members, Braden Harman, and Liem Watkins were able to attend the 2026 NCPA Congressional Fly-In this past week along with Amanda Fordyce. At this they were able to advocate and discuss the importance of various bills that could forever change the field of independent pharmacy.
They were able to meet with either the staff of Bernie Moreno, Jon Husted, Jim Jordan, Mike Carey, and Bob Lotta. They were also able to meet directly with rep. Dave Taylor who seems ready to be a big supporter of us.
Throughout the week they were able to make connections with a variety of independent owners, and had the pleasure to speak with Doug Hoey and Kristen Riddle, the CEO and President respectively of NCPA who gave them a variety of advice on how best to improve our chapter and the future of independent pharmacy as a whole.

We are happy to share that applications for the 2026-2027 NCPA Student Chapter executive board are now open! NCPA focuses on independent community practice and advocacy for the profession. If you feel passionate about any of these, I strongly encourage you to apply. Any position on the NCPA executive board will help you grow and foster your leadership skills that are essential in pharmacy school. You do not need to be a current member to apply.

Yesterday, our student chapter had the privilege of hosting Michelle Fitzgibbon, who shared insights about her role with OPA and the importance of student advocacy in shaping the future of our profession. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for this impactful event!
