Provision Homestead
Rooted in purpose, growing in hope. Each item we make is a step closer to the land we long to steward.
We’re a husband-and-wife team with a dream: to leave behind the noise of Michigan and build a quiet, purposeful life on our future farm in the hills of Tennessee. Angel In Your Path
I have a theory.
When a stranger says the exact thing someone needs to hear, they’re an angel who doesn’t know they’re an angel — placed in that person’s path on purpose.
I didn’t always believe that… until I lived it.
Years ago, I was working as a waitress courtside at a Detroit Pistons game at the Palace of Auburn Hills. It was the very beginning of the event. The arena was already loud and alive — music playing, announcements echoing, people pouring in from every direction trying to find their seats.
Everything felt rushed, chaotic, and ordinary in the way big events always do.
A man from a group approached me, clearly confused, asking where someone’s section was. I caught a name — something like “Big Mike” — but I wasn’t completely sure I heard him right. Still, I told him, “Hold on, let me find out for you.”
I walked over to a woman who was working as an arena host and said, very casually,
“There’s a man over there asking where Big Mike’s section is.”
She froze.
Not just paused — froze. Her face dropped, like the color drained out of it all at once. Her eyes locked into mine so intensely it felt like she was looking straight through me, like she was searching my soul for something. Her body went completely still, and for a brief moment it felt like the noise of the arena faded just around us.
I could tell something huge had come over her, even though I had no idea why.
She looked at me and said, almost breathless,
“What did you just say?”
I repeated it. “A man is looking for Big Mike’s section.”
Her hand flew to her chest. She gasped, and then she broke into tears. I stood there stunned, trying to understand what was happening. I turned to point out the man — he had been standing near the arena floor just moments earlier.
He was gone.
Completely gone.
I said, “Well… he was just right there.”
She looked at me through tears and said, “Oh my God… you’re not going to believe this.”
Two days earlier, she had lost her brother. His name was Mike — everyone called him Big Mike. She told me she had been thinking about him constantly, missing him deeply, and had just asked for a sign that he was okay.
And then I walked up to her and said his name.
That’s when the realization hit me.
I stood there in shock, trying to process what had just happened — that I had unknowingly delivered a message meant for someone else.
After she told me the story, she grabbed me and hugged me, crying. I just stood there, stunned, trying to wrap my mind around what had just happened.
I never saw that man again that night — and believe me, I looked
