What's your favorite legume?

One of my top favorites is lentils. And they only take 20 minutes to cook! In the winter I make soup and in the summer it's lentil salad!

Tried the vegan ramen at Itto Ramen Bar & Tapas in West Asheville. It was really good! Not usually a big tofu fan but the consistency and flavor were perfect.

Anyone tried a cauliflower steak? I finally got on the bandwagon and it’s a bigger portion of cauliflower and is based on how the head is cut to the size of a small ‘steak’with seasonings added and then roast ‘em! Here’s the recipe I used: https://healthyrecipesblogs.com/cauliflower-steaks/

Nothing like chilled cantaloupe and a pop of blueberry to quench a summer thirst!

I’ve used canned jackfruit and was recently introduced to the plant after seeing this beauty in aLowe’s grocery recently. I hadh to look at the sign to see what this beautiful fruit was! It’s bigger than it looks here and I didn’t pick one up this time but it’s on my list to for experimenting! If only I could find fresh jackfruit in Florence. Who eats fresh jackfruit? Happy Cow Creamery has a large store sellling many products including milk, cheese, ice cream, and butter as well as meats, pickled products, sauces, marinades, dressings, jellies, jams, and other gift items. I had never seen mayhaw jelly! Mayhaw is a type of hawthorn tree that grows by rivers or swamps and produces a tart red berry that looks like a cranberry or small crabapple. It is tart and usually not eaten raw but made into jellies and syrups. I like the bit of tartness in this jelly. Delish!

Happy Cow Creamery has an abundance of summer produce to purchase and partner with local farmers for offering local fruits and veggies.

We visited Happy Cow Creamery in Pelzer, SC for a tour to learn about their unique system of grazing for their on-the-farm bottling of no chemical, hormone free milk from happy cows. We had a tour of the the operations before adventuring into the fields for some social grazing. These cows are new moms having a chew on dried farm grass and will head back into the fields for fresh grass a little later.

Another idea for a kitchen herb garden. Dylan & Emily designed and built this DIY herb garden for their porch adjoining the kitchen. What are your ideas for keeping herbs handy for cooking?
