Switching to a low-toxic and sustainable lifestyle can seem daunting…

But it’s super easy once you realize you don’t need to do everything all at once. Honestly, it does more harm than good trying to do so— start small and with intention. Not only will your bank account thank you, but your health will too.

Your body does better with smaller changes. It’s like when you’re trying to get your kids back on track for school after a nice long summer break; you don’t immediately start having them go to bed early— you ease them into it.

For me, sustainable living and low-toxic go hand in hand. I grew up thrifting, so it’s a no-brainer for me to shop second hand. But now I intentionally shop for organic clothing and plastic-free cookware.

If you already love shopping small— supporting local families at markets might be right up your alley. You’ll get some amazing produce and products— AND you’re helping support another family. It’s a win-win situation. Know a friend with a small business and low-toxic goods? Tell your friends and share with other local businesses that are able to carry their products.

One of my favorite platforms to utilize is Facebook. Not only is Marketplace a great way to get rid of your old items (and put money towards your new swaps), but Facebook groups can be a great resource for finding solutions for your family and learning from others that have been in your shoes.
