About Me
My name is Megan & I began rhinestoning things years ago, starting with a pair of shoes. Rhinestoning is my way of coping with my anxiety.
If you have ever looked closely at my face, you have probably noticed that I have really crappy eyebrows. This is because I have suffered from an anxiety disorder called Trichotillomania since 2007.
Trichotillomania is an obsessive-compulsive hair pulling disorder. Many people who suffer from Trichotillomania pull out the hair from their head leaving bald patches, as well as their eyebrows and eyelashes. Fortunately, I have never pulled the hair from my head, but I have pulled my eyebrows and eyelashes since 2007. It is something that I do subconsciously and that often cannot be controlled. I have “relapsed” several times leaving me with no eyebrows or eyelashes. I have tried many ways to try to stop, but nothing seemed to ever work until I started rhinestoning stuff. By keeping my hands busy, and focusing on my project, I don’t feel the urge to pull.
So, if you ever wonder why I bling everything in sight (other than the fact that I just love sparkly things - who doesn’t?!), this is why. Thank you for supporting my “small business.” You are supporting me emotionally more than anything and I sincerely appreciate it. ♥
