Did you know that most umbilical cords are between 1.5 and 2 feet long? Amazingly, the longest cord notes in medical literature was a whopping 6 feet long!! 😮 Roots and Hearth clients receive theirs as spiral or heart keepsakes as a way to honor this amazing temporary support structure 🌀

Almost my entire June docket had their babies within a six day span (which has made for a wildly busy week!), so I’m opening June back up for 2 additional encapsulation clients. Please spread the word if anyone you know is due in June!

Umbilical cords are magical things, which is why I dry them as keepsake spirals and hearts for my placenta medicine clients. Two arteries and one vein spiral around each other, bringing blood to and from the placenta. Once there, parent and baby’s blood supplies — which don’t actually mix — come close enough to exchange gasses, nutrients, immune system components, and metabolic byproducts before returning blood to baby.
