These guys are hysterical, as well as knowledgeable. It would be fun to field test this course for my hypermobile clients and perhaps gain some strength for my wiggly SI joint. 💪🤸‍♀️

Foot restoration programs, foot-shaped footwear, & specialized myofascial trigger point therapy can help with stabilizing hypermobile joints, improving muscle tone, & managing chronic pain. 👣

The zebra is the symbol of the EDS community for a few reasons:

🦓 “When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras” is an old medical saying meaning to look for the most common diagnosis (horses) rather than a rare one (zebras). This leads to delayed diagnosis and often several misdiagnoses for people with EDS.

🦓 Just like no two zebras share the same stripes, no two people with EDS share the same set of symptoms.

EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndromes) is a genetic condition that affects the body’s connective tissue. This tissue, which supports ALL of your body systems & structures, are weakened due to defects in collagen production, causing a variety of symptoms & conditions.

🦓 EDS is more than hypermobility.

Ehlers-Danlos syndromes are complex connective tissue disorders that can affect the joints, skin, blood vessels, organs, autonomic nervous system, and more.

For many patients, symptoms are chronic, life-altering, and often invisible to others.

This EDS Awareness Month, we stand with the community in raising awareness, encouraging earlier recognition, and helping patients feel seen and understood. 💙

EDS is...
REAL.
COMPLEX.
OFTEN INVISIBLE.

I was told I have an ‘authoritative walk’ today while at the park trying to get my steps in. 💪

Truth be told, I was concentrating on activating & isolating my transverse abdominis (TA) while walking. This is tricky! 😜

But… when you get the TA, lower trap, & gluteus medius activated (3 important stabilizers), it can relieve muscle tension & allow the mover muscles to do their jobs to help you move better. 🏃🏻‍♀️🚴‍♀️🤾🏻‍♂️🏌️‍♂️🤽‍♂️🏄🏽‍♀️

I help my clients feel, find, & isolate these deep stabilizer muscles as part of every trigger point therapy session. 🎯

Yessss! 💓 My clients know this muscle as fibularis, BUT this will help with foot strength & walking/hiking. 🥾

Also, when the heck did meta start sharing to personal page instead of business page? They are making more work for me! 🤷🏻‍♀️

This basketball player did the work. 💪

He came in for a few follow up sessions after we released adhesions & trigger points from old injuries in the first session. 🎯

He did the trigger point self-care techniques I showed him BEFORE and AFTER games & weightlifting. 🏀🏋🏻‍♀️
This improves blood flow to muscles & fascia, activating the muscles so they fire better which increases strength, agility, performance, & helps prevent injury.

He came in for recovery FSM after injuring his ankle. And stuck with it until he was back on the court. 🌀

Mindset matters when it comes to fixing chronic problems. I love it when my clients are willing to put in the work. 💓

Did you know I have fibromyalgia?
It’s why I’m in this gig now. Myofascial trigger point therapy & FSM are game changers for any chronic nervous system disorder, including all types of fibro. 💜

I was diagnosed with cervical trauma fibro in 2011 after NINE YEARS of trying everything & nothing helped, until I met a PT & orthopedic doctor who changed my life with FSM. 🌀

I have been symptom-free for 14 years with occasional flares, typically after long bumpy rides down backcountry roads in a jeep or side-by-side to get to good alpine hikes, or after looking up a lot to pick apricots in a good apricot year. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Myofascial trigger point therapy & FSM treat the underlying cause, decrease pain, improve mobility, & treatment is specific to your unique symptoms & history. No two sessions are the same.

If you want the science behind these outcome-based therapies, do a quick google search for publications, or message me, I offer free phone consults and would be happy to share what I know. 😀

“Combining manual lymphatic drainage with cranial therapies can create an optimal environment for the brain.” 🧠 Excited to read the rest of this article!

Here’s a FASCIAnating connection: 😀
The glymphatic system ‘cleans’ your brain & sends the waste to lymph vessels in the dura, your deepest FASCIA layer.

From there, this nervous system ‘waste’ is carried to lymph nodes in your neck, which are deeply embedded in the FASCIA located there.

And… your neck FASCIA is connected to all the FASCIA running through your entire body. 🤩

I’m field testing the Foot Restoration Program with The Foot Collective to see if it’s something I want to recommend to my clients. 👣

I also want to fix a few things with my feet that I hope will help with ankle weakness, back pain, & improve hiking performance. 🥾

Self assessments: toe splay, single leg stance, wide & narrow split squats.

If you’ve been to see me for a chronic issue, you know I look at your feet & ask about footwear during my initial evaluation. 🦶👀

I look at your feet while walking, in standing posture, in single leg stance & squats, & what they do when you’re laying on the table. I even sneak a peek after you first arrive and when you’re seated telling about your day. 😉

Sometimes it’s a chicken or the egg situation… Are your wonky feet or poor choice of footwear causing your foot, back, or other pain? Or is it an old injury & muscle imbalance causing your gait to be off?

Either way, my goal as a myofascial trigger point therapist is to find & treat the underlying cause. 🎯

Working on getting your foot and ankle muscles to do their jobs correctly is a big ‘step’ toward fixing any musculoskeletal issue.
