*Swipe to see how far we’ve come*
As market season approaches, I wanted to give you all an update on what our little shop has been up to! We had an overwhelmingly busy kickoff to our holiday season and re-launch of our website. We continue to be overwhelmed by everyone’s support, but this holiday season made one thing clear- our tanks had been running on empty.
Each of us has been dedicated to True Roots since we opened our *virtual* doors in November 2020 (along with our normal, 9-5 jobs). The following Spring, we began doing two markets a week and our business has grown beyond our wildest dreams and expectations.
We remain committed to making our products by hand, in small batches, with local and sustainable ingredients but…something has to give.
I cannot express in words how much it has meant to myself, Nikki, and Lindsay to chat with each of you every week and hear how much you enjoy our products. You’ve encouraged us, and supported us, and helped us grow from a tiny little shop that carried nothing but soaps and scrubs, to a real business, that’s on the shelves in over 100 other small businesses nationwide.
That being said, we simply cannot continue to work at our respective full time jobs and put the quality of market you deserve each week. For context, it takes about 60 hours of work producing, filling, and labeling products just to re-stock our shelves every week. As the old saying goes, there are only so many hours in a day.
This was an incredibly difficult decision to make, as so much of what our business has become is due to the support we received at our local markets. We hope to see you a few Saturdays throughout the summer (and will of course share dates, times, and location here).
As a reminder, you can shop our full line of products inside This And That, located at 2436 Glendale, every Monday-Saturday, 10-6. We are hoping to find a second home in the Fox Valley soon.
Until next time.
XoXo,
Jess

I also personally want to thank Lamyai with the Downtown Green Bay market. She took a huge chance on us and has been our biggest cheerleader along the way. We could NOT have done this without her and she was also a huge part of why it has been so bittersweet to take a step back.
Until next time.
XoXo,
Jess
(To show how far we’ve come, here are some pictures of us practicing our setup in my living room before our first market + our first market Vs. Our market last summer. We sure have come a long way!)

Who doesn’t love a good tote and supporting 3 woman-owned businesses in the process? We are so proud that our supply chain is over 90% woman-owned!
Step 1: Shore Bags is a 100% minority-woman owned business who shared our mission of reducing plastics in the environment and empowering women. These bags are made from 100% jute and have a laminated interior to prevent contents from leaking or soaking through.
Step 2: (who is also local to NEW) carefully hand-presses our logo onto each bag.
Step 3: will fill these bags with all your favorite goodies for you to reuse again and again (and they’re great for carrying flowers from our neighbors J&Q Fresh Farm Produce).
We’ll have these bags (in 3 sizes/styles) and a full restock on our skincare at the downtown market this Saturday!

While it is definitely bittersweet to say this, after our vendor event this Saturday, we are SOLD OUT for the rest of the year, meaning, we don’t have enough inventory remaining to participate in anymore events or list on the website. We have a very small number (of beautiful & handcrafted) items remaining. I’ve attached pictures and included pricing / scents / quantity in the comments on each photo. If you are interested, please send us a DM and we can arrange invoice via PayPal, Venmo, Square, or Cash. We can offer free drop off in Green Bay/Fox Valley area, or flat rate shipping ($9) anywhere in the US.
This was our first official Black Friday/Small Business Saturday and we had no idea what to expect. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your overwhelming support during our first year in business. Opening a business in the middle of a global pandemic is still the scariest thing I’ve ever done, but I am happy to say it was well worth it and we are very much looking forward to another great year with you all. On behalf of Nikki, Lindsay, Amanda, and myself, we have greatly enjoyed spending our Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings in-person with all of you. Can’t wait to share what’s in store for 2022 🥂
We’re almost out of shower bombs, dryer balls, and mini gift sets if you had those items on your list!our four new sea salt soaps are also going quick! We’ll be at the Resch until 5 today, but if you aren’t able to make it down to see us, I’ll be backfilling everything that’s left on the website tomorrow.
If you’re in Green Bay today, stop by the Resch Expo center. We’ve got everything you need to build the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Drop your questions in the comments below! We will be here until 5 tonight! ETA, this place is MASSIVE. We are in the 1100 section (signs overhead, on a corner). We’ve got the sign out and you can’t miss us!
It’s beginning to look (and smell) a lot like Christmas! We’ve been on hiatus from markets and events while we continue to grow and expand our wholesale businesss throughout the country. BUT you’ll be able to shop for everyone on your gift list this Saturday at the Holiday Craft Show at The Resch Center in Green Bay! We’ll have plenty of pre-made gift sets, the option to make your own set, stocking stuffers, you name it! Can’t wait to see you all there!

HUGE thank you to who crafted these beautiful arrangements that you saw in our booth yesterday. The more I look at them the more details I notice. Absolutely gorgeous!

Calling all fall lovers- we’ve got you covered! Stop on down for some cozy fall knits or a pumpkin spice latte coffee scrub. We take our espresso and cane sugar scrub, add some pumpkin seed oil, and a scrumptious pumpkin spice fragrance.

Fall is finally here, y’all! Join us for a delightfully not sweaty farmers market on Broadway tonight. It’s our second to last one and with fall definitely in the air, so too are our fall scents. In addition to the body butters and scrubs we introduced a few weeks ago, we’ve added solid lotion bars and buttery soft, extra cozy fall knits to the lineup. Stop by to see Jess and Amanda from 3-7!
Lotion bars will be available in:
Sweater Weather
Pumpkin + Spice
Cider + Spice
And are $12 (including a reusable travel tin).
Due to staffing shortages, we will not be at either the Broadway market or downtown market this week. Please help spread the word. Lindsay is doing well after surgery and I know she’s looking forward to re-joining the Saturday crew as soon as she’s ready to!
