Autumn reminds us that letting go isn't a sign of weakness. It's part of healthy growth.

As I get closer to 40, I've been looking backward differently.
Not asking: "What should I have accomplished by now?"
But: "What did every version of me teach the woman I am today?"
The little girl.
The teenager.
The twenty-something who became everything to everyone.
The thirty-something who eventually had to ask: Who am I without all these roles?
That's why I'm sharing 40 lessons before my 40th birthday.
Not because I've figured everything out.

For years, the roles were my answer.
Wife.
Mother.
Leader.
Business owner.
Fixer.
The strong one.
Strip those away and I genuinely didn’t know what was left.
At first that felt terrifying.
Eventually I realized the silence wasn’t a crisis.
It was an invitation.

Someone being disappointed in your decision doesn't automatically mean your decision was wrong.
Sometimes disappointment is simply what happens when you stop abandoning yourself to meet someone else's expectations.
You can be loving and still say no.
You can care and still choose differently.
You can be kind without making everyone happy.
Those things can exist together.
Save this for the next time guilt makes you question a healthy decision.
