*cue T imitating mommy asking him to smile 😁
In all seriousness though, these puffs are a HIT! A few weeks back, Consumer Reports posted about high levels of heavy metals in baby foods (puffs included), and that was primarily bc of all the rice / grains in these foods. recently launched grain-free puffs and let me tell you, T is loving them.
I like to serve them with a meal or snack (not as the whole snack), so it’ll be more satiating. So ie a handful with sliced apple & almond butter as a snack, or a handful with a balanced dinner (like fish/chicken + veg + potato). These babies are made with REAL whole ingredients like bone broth & veggies. Cassava flour is the base. Plus Serenity Kids tests all of their products for heavy metals in line with European standards since we don’t yet have them for baby food in America yet 👏🏼

my happy place ❤️

When I recently asked what postpartum questions you had, a question I saw a few times was good-for-you recs for baby actually! While there’s zero chance of being totally nontoxic (esp unfortunately when it comes to kids toys), I do my best where I can to give my little ones only the good stuff. Here’s some of my current fave skincare-related brands for babe:
lotion. This is my current go to as its verified, an organization that strictly reviews tons of products. I look for fragrance-free bc fragrance isn’t a regulated term (kind of like natural in foods 😏) and is often found with phthalates which disrupt hormone levels.
butt paste for diaper rash.
soap
Laundry detergent. I’m still on the hunt for a really great one here. I use fragrance-free
Stains. concentrate + oxygen boost 💯

wishing you all a love-filled, happy and safe rest of the holiday season.
And want to shout out a special thanks to all the frontline workers who work every day to make us feel safe & cared for every single day.
start ‘em early

But for real - it’s so fun to see so many little ones loving .sound decaf flavors. Makes me so happy that this amazing company provides a fun occasional alternative to water that isn’t sugary.
Fruit juice accounts for about about 47% of “fruit intake”(!!) in children aged 1 to 3 years old. Fruit juice doesn’t have fiber in it, which is such an important benefit of eating whole real fruit, and without it, blood sugar rises rapidly. This is really not great for little one’s energy or satiety. I wrote a little piece for on 4 important nutrients for babies & toddlers which I’ve linked in my bio if you’re interested to learn more!

early bird special over here 🙋🏻♀️

Fun fact - not only does our body metabolize and utilize nutrients better when it’s light out ☀️ but even the bacteria in our gut thrive in this eating window. Because keeping those healthy bacteria alive and well is key for not only digestive but also immune health, this is an important perk; it allows the healthy bacteria to better synthesize certain nutrients (i.e., folate, biotin and vitamin K), meaning that we gain more from the good food we’re eating. It’s called Circadian Rhythm Fasting & is so worth a read. Our hormonal balance seems to be best eating during these windows. I’ve linked an article I wrote in my bio!
So I say if you can choose between eating earlier in the day (ie 9-7) vs later (ie 12-10), go with earlier!

sunday morning STACK 🥞

but because this has protein + good fiber & fat too, you won’t get that blood sugar crash post-brekkie 🙌🏼 the olive oil is a GAME CHANGER - makes these babies moist & chewier inside.
almond flour mix (for 12 minis or 6 larger) + tbsp ground flax + tbsp chia + 2 tsp cinnamon. Either add 2 scoops to the mix itself (+ little more water) or add to your hot tea or coffee for that extra protein to keep you satisfied & energized. 🍳 on the side is also 👌🏼
These are awesome leftover too. Happy Sunday friends ❤️❤️

Easiest way to have protein around through the work week: Mix it up with the basics! This is my Chicken Salad 3 Ways!
• • • •
1- Pesto style with vegan pesto 👌🏼
2- Buffalo style with medium Buffalo sauce 🔥
3- Classic style with avocado Mayo + walnuts & celery for crunch! 🙌🏼
To make shredded chicken: I always use the recipe from 🥳
Put chicken breast in pot & cover with water, to 1in above chicken. Cover & bring to a boil. Once boiling, turn down to a simmer for 12-15 min. Check to make sure cooked through (165F). Let sit for a bit to cool & then shred with fork & knife.
I’ll also do BBQ with PK sauce as well. These are great options for easy lunches for us & 👶

Collagen has been buzzy for a while now but I think it’s last past “trendy” because it can actually have real life positive impact on our bodies 💪
• • • •
Collagen is a type of protein that can be found in almost every human cell, so it’s gotta be important right 🤓 HOWEVER, our collagen naturally starts to decline after the age of 30 👎🏼 so supplementing could be helpful!
Collagen has been shown to
✔️ Improve skin elasticity
✔️ Support a healthy gut lining ‼️ When your gut lining breaks down (from stress, food triggers, etc), substances can pass through that shouldn’t -> inflammation -> more lining breakdown -> more inflammation. It’s a vicious cycle! Collagen has been shown to help repair those breaks in the gut lining (clearly stress management & avoiding inflammatory foods helps too).
Where can you find it?!
Bone broth - I love bc it tastes amazing & is packaged in paper vs plastic
Supplements like & - I look for ones made from grass-fed/pasture-raised cows or wild fish
Keep in mind that vitamin C boost collagen production as well - think berries, bell peppers & citrus 🍊 (sugar, on the other hand, breaks down collagen)
*Note that collagen alone is not complete protein. There are many more amino acids essential too, so It helps to vary up your protein sources (esp including some quality animal options) throughout the day.
