One of our cockerel grow outs!!!

We are working on our first real project over here. We are taking our chocolate olive egger hen and have bred her to our Maran rooster to see if we can reproduce the dark olive eggs! We have one pullet for sure, our other grow out is following the pattern of another pullet we have, but still young enough that it could end up being a cockerel. Hoping for Spring eggs and to see what this breeding produces!

It’s been hot. We’ve been quiet. Trying to keep everyone from stressing. A storm is rolling in and bringing some nice wind with it!

We are starting to find our direction around here. Looking forward to expanding our Orpington project. We plan to focus on a few variations, some designed egg color pairings, and our daughter’s BBS Silkie Ameracaunas. These beautiful new chicks are our recent hatches from A Wing And A Prayer Homestead! Crele English Orpington and Silver Laced Orpington.
