Recently I heard someone say, “runners tend to treat their strength workouts like runs and rush through them.” I felt seen 👀
I have known for a long time that I need to slow tf down (in more ways than one), but it’s not easy! I’ve actually started doing some mobility during my rest between sets to help with the boredom.
I’m not one for New Years Resolutions, but I am going to make “slow the f*ck down” a priority in 2026. And here is why you should too:
• Improved form & control
• Less risk of injury
• Greater efficiency
• Can maximize your lifts
And I’m not talking about time under tension (TUT.) I’m talking about taking your time to set up your movements, ensuring proper movement mechanics, feeling it in the right place(s), and resting between sets.
True story: my butt is flat. My husband loves to tell me it’s great and pinch it 24/7, but it’s flat and probably deflated more as I’ve aged. I can’t tell you how long I’ve been doing deadlifts, squats, hip thrusts, glute bridges… but I can easily tell you when I realized I wasn’t using my glute muscles half the time, and it’s not that long ago 😭. I wanted to just get through it.
This video shows some Rotating Single Leg Romanian Deadlifts. These are new to me in the last 3 months or so but I love them! Not only do they help strengthen the glutes and hamstrings but they also build balance, core strength, and unilateral stability.
Give them a go and lmk what you think. Here’s to a stronger, less flat butt in 2026 💪🍑
PS: don’t buy any “get a big butt in 4 weeks” program from some idiot influencer online 🙃
