The Nourishing Well Personal Chef Service is all about health, wellness and sustainable living. There is an opening for someone to join the kitchen staff ~ one, two or four days a week.

Do you need to be professionally trained? Nope! But knowing your way around a kitchen and having basic cooking skills is important. Along with being a happy camper and rather zippy.

One is short term - 4 days a week starting the first week of May through July.

The second job is long term, 3 days a week.

Evening meditation in my back yard garden. Such a perfect evening to sit out here.

Amaranth. What an amazing plant. Grows absolutely everywhere. I always grew it as an ornamental for it’s beautiful plumes and deep burgundy color. But last year I learned that not only the seeds are edible (no way I’m harvesting those minuscule little buggers) but also the greens and those are delicious!

Sustainability is our thing here at The Nourishing Well. I've spent years trying to get as much plastic out of my kitchen (and home). While I've done so much I'm still amazed at how much plastic comes in here that I have to figure out how to properly recycle it.

Of course the best option is always to not bring it in in the first place. On that note I love these dishwashing scrubbies from ETEE. No plastic, they don't get funky smelling, you can throw them in the dishwasher or the washer, and compost them when they are done.

Am I getting a cut on this. Wish I could say yes - but it's a no. Just spreading the word on a good product.

Did you know many store receipts contain BPA or BPS, so when you handle them your body is absorbing minute amounts of these toxic plastics.

Green America recently came up with a scorecard to see which large companies offer digital receipts, receipts without the plastics and the worst offenders.

For local shoppers, Mom's Market offers digital receipts along with compostable paper receipts. Go Mom's! Love that place!

Notes on the methodology:

A number of companies reported that their receipts are BPA free but could not confirm that receipts were also BPS free. In order to receive an A or B, companies must demonstrate that receipts are both BPA and BPS free.

Several companies have initiated a digital receipt program but are pairing these digital receipts with paper receipts, with no option to receive a digital -only receipt. Issuing paper receipts in addition to digital receipts does not create an environmental benefit. We are encouraging all companies to offer a digital-only receipt.
