Wow summer is flying by.
Here is our 2022 Norris Activity Calendar Ad!

Hickman Physical Therapy was established in 2010. 10 years has gone by too fast. It is always great seeing so many people that we have treated while out in the local community. Thanks for all of your continued support! For all or our past patients, please stop in sometime and say hi!!

We hope the new year has started off good for you. Many insurances do not require a referral for physical therapy. You can always call and ask your insurance company if they require a referral to physical therapy. Remember to use good form scooping snow! Bend at your knees and less bending at the hips and back to save your back! Bad scooping mechanics = back pain!!

Happy Holidays from Hickman Physical Therapy! Enjoy your time with your family and friends. Cheers to a new year of prosperity and good health!

Coddington and Hickman Physical Therapy made their first TV commercial. It will run on Channel 8 for the next 6 months.

Baseball and softball seasons are in full force right now. A few good injury prevention tips are:

*Stretch before you play catch
*Keep pitch counts low (even if you really need to win)
*Go for a good jog the day after you pitch to help reduce elbow and shoulder pain
*Don't throw curveballs or sliders until you are more mature and learn the right way
*Learn a good rotator cuff strengthening program

**Hickman Physical Therapy can show your child a good rotator cuff strengthening program to use all year long. Rotator cuff strengtheing can start at any age. Call us to set up a good program for your child. You can gain velocity and prevent injury with a good rotator cuff strengthening program.

Many people are signing up for end of the year surgeries because the weather is changing and some have met their deductibles finally by this time of the year. Stop by for a pre-surgical appointment to learn what physical therapy will entail after surgery. We can show you how to use your crutches, walker, or cane. We make height adjustments on your adaptive equipment and show you what exercises to do post surgical. Good luck and let us know if we can help!

Just a friendly reminder that today is WORLD PHYSICAL THERAPY day! Stop by Hickman Physical Therapy (located by Subway) to help us celebrate and grab a treat!

Football season is around the corner. Practices have already started. For those that are getting to play this year good luck this season! We wish you the best! Stay safe and stay healthy! Should you have an injury that requires surgery or just a sprain/strain, we can get you in right away in most situations to speed up your recovery and get you back into competition quickly. Good luck! Coddington Physical Therapy and Hickman Physical Therapy. You can look us up on coddingtonphysicaltherapy.com

Baseball season is in full force for many kids. Parents, watch your child's pitch counts. In my opinion, kids should not throw more than 80-90 pitches in one game and with good rest between games. If your child throws 80-90 pitches, they need to sit out at least 2-3 days from pitching. If they throw 30-40 pitches one day, I would not let them go more than 30 or so the next day for sure. Kids still need time to rest their arms even though they are kids with good flexibility. Trust me, your 9u,10u,11u, or whatever level championship is not worth hurting your child's future! Good mechanics are the most important. Offseason throwing is also very important to build up arm strength for the season. Long toss is the best way to increase velocity and arm strength. Good luck out there and stay cool!

It is good to see people slowly getting back to work again! Keep safe and work on! We have seen a slight influx of new patients this last 2 weeks and a few returning that left during the scare. Stay well, stay healthy, and stay positive! Keep positive people around you!

Hickman Physical Therapy is still open. Like a lot of companies, we have lost a lot of clientele due to Covid-19. We continue to clean more than we breathe it seems like. We are keeping the numbers to less than 10 at all times including staff. In fact, you will have one on one care throughout the treatment. We are still accepting new patients and are planning on continuing with some patients even if things get really bad. We are honoring requests for people that want special hours to have very minimal contact with others. We do not plan to close on our patients that really need us and especially for post surgical patients. We are planning on a record fall season with all the surgeries being postponed. We are asking all family members to wait in their vehicles and to please call and reschedule if you are not feeling well! We are praying that this will blow over soon, and we can all get back to our normal lives! Keep Healthy!

Coddington and Hickman Physical Therapy want to assure you that we will remain open if at all possible as our country deals with COVID-19 or the coronavirus. We have put some safety measures in place to make sure that you, our valued patients, and our staff can remain healthy and safe when you come to our office.

If you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other upper respiratory symptoms, or have traveled to an area of concern within or outside of the United States in the last 14 days, or have been near anyone suspected of or confirmed of having COVID-19, please call our office to discuss your appointment.

Only the person with the appointment and the caregiver will be allowed in the clinic. Family members and friends will be asked to wait outside. We understand this may cause hardship for some, and we will be happy to reschedule your appointment if necessary.

We understand these safety measure may be an inconvenience; however, we want to be cautious and keep patients and staff safe. Thank you for helping us with these precautions. With everyone’s cooperation, we can help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Matt Schwager, D.P.T
Casey Moeller, D.P.T

Ase is always eager to help patients by providing moral support! He adds such a calming presence to the clinic and loves meeting new people....Now, if we could just get him to fold laundry 😉

Wishing Norris Wrestling and Norris Cheer the best of luck at state this year! Go Titans!

Patients often ask if they need a referral for Physical Therapy. Medicare requires a referral but many other insurances do not. You can call your insurance company and ask if you can do direct referral to physical therapy. This means that you can come right to our clinic and get to work on your area of pain without needing a referral. We are in network with almost every insurance company. We also offer a private pay or cash pay option. This is good for people that have super high deductibles and just want to see if a few visits can help them without going thru insurance. If you pay privately or cash pay, you do not need a referral no matter who you have for insurance.

This time of year is post-surgical time of the year! Many people elect surgery this time of the year for a few reasons. #1 They need it, 2# it is getting colder out, 3# end of year deductibles are being met, 4# sick of family telling you to get it done (mom)!, 5# maybe work slows down this time of year for you. Whatever the reason may be, we start seeing a lot more post-surgical patients this time of year and at the beginning of the year. We love post surgical patients at Hickman Physical Therapy. Patients usually show up and want to get to work to regain their active lifestyles. Hickman Physical Therapy has had excellent surgical outcomes, and we are rated the highest in Hickman for patient, surgeon, and primary care reviews. We have people from all the surrounding communities driving several miles to Hickman Physical Therapy because of friends and family referrals and good experiences/outcomes at our clinic. Tell your Doctor where you want to have Physical Therapy. You have a choice! WE CAN ACCEPT MANY PATIENTS WITHOUT A REFERRAL!!

Hickman Physical Therapy's partner clinic (Coddington Physical Therapy) in west Lincoln has been doing dry needling for 3 years. Lately, there has been more demand for dry needling as people are being educated on what it can do to help their pain. Patients' family or friends are being treated with dry needling and having good results. Dry needling uses acupuncture needles. People often ask what the difference is between dry needling and acupuncture. The main difference is that acupuncture treats for the purpose of changing the flow of "energy" along Chinese meridians. Acupuncture leaves needles in the skin for longer periods of time and treatment can be more than 30 minutes to an hour. Dry needling goes to the area you are having pain and trigger points. Dry needling is also usually done in 15 minutes or less. We have had good luck with tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, plantar fasciitis, neck pain and migraines, whiplash, tension headaches, muscular pain and strains, etc. We have had several people lately that came to our clinic specifically for dry needling. Hickman patients are welcome to schedule a few dry needling treatments at Coddington Physical Therapy to see if dry needling works for them. We are right off of Highway 77 when you come into Lincoln on West A st.

If pain and/or weakness are causing you to miss the ability to go to places like this, sitting in the car while the rest of your family is climbing the lookout tower, can't get on/off the floor to play with your kids or grand kids, do something about it. Start with physical therapy to get stronger and/or get your pain to go away to allow you to do these things again. Don't miss out on life!

Sciatica is a condition that can be bothersome or completely debilitating. Sciatica means pain of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is made up of a combination of low back nerves. You can have sciatica without back pain. You can have back pain without sciatica. The sciatic nerve runs right next to a muscle called the piriformis. Some people have a tight piriformis muscle that can cause sciatica. Sciatica is often from a bulging disc or stenosis (arthritis) of your low back. If you are suffering from sciatica and sick of dealing with the pain, stop in for treatment or a home exercise program, so you can return to a pain free lifestyle.

Meet Our Team!

With over 16 years experience as an in-demand physical therapist, Casey's love of helping people heal began when he experienced rehabilitation to his own body as a high school athlete. Originally from Grand Island, Casey graduated from Doane College in 1996 and from Creighton University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2000. He was part of the team that founded Crete Physical Therapy in 2006 and purchased the practice in 2008. You can also find Casey at his other clinics: Coddington Physical Therapy in Lincoln and Crete Physical Therapy in Crete.

When Casey isn't at the office, he enjoys life by being with his family: skiing, biking, traveling, playing softball, and coaching youth sports. He and his wife, Shannie, have four kids - Cade, Ella, Crew, and Cash - who attend Norris school. The Moeller family recently moved to an acreage near Roca and love the beauty of the landscape and sense of rural community.

Matt received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska in 2008. He has experience in outpatient orthopedics, pediatrics, inpatient and home health in both rural and urban communities, and has over 9 years of home health experience. Matt started out his career serving the communities of western Lincoln including Milford, Friend, and surrounding communities for inpatient, geriatric, and outpatient orthopedic care. Matt then opened Coddington Physical Therapy in May 2010 in west Lincoln. Matt has partnered with Interim Healthcare of Lincoln to manage all of their physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy needs thru a separate company called MLS Physical Therapy. Interim is a home healthcare business that has been serving "at home" patients for over 25 years. Matt and Casey Moeller, D.P.T. opened a satellite clinic in Hickman, NE in January, 2013 Hickman Physical Therapy.

Matt especially enjoys working with sports injuries and post surgical patients. After seven years of professional baseball with the Baltimore Orioles, he has a passion for patients with shoulder pain and has had great success treating patients with all types of shoulder injuries. Matt is currently treating patients at Coddington Physical Therapy in west Lincoln 3 days per week and treats patients in their homes for Interim Healthcare 2 days per week. Matt is married and has three sons. He has certifications in lymphedema treatments and wound care and is certified in Dry Needling. He also specializes in treating patients with Parkinson’s using the LSVT Big Program.
