Sometimes life is hard, there’s no doubt about that. We cannot control our circumstances, but we hold all the cards when it comes to controlling how we respond to what’s happening around us.

Physical activity plays a key role in regulating mood issues. Get up, get out and get moving.

It doesn’t have to be five miles.

It doesn’t even have to be at a fast pace.

We just have to do it.

We are worth the effort and the time. Our bodies will thank us, and our mood will be improved. And that makes it easier to deal appropriately with anything else we are experiencing in life.

I know a lot of adults who still think the same way.

Here’s the thing: If we are eating healthy most of the time, a little junk food here and there won’t kill us.

But, the sad thing is that reverse of that: “eating junk food most of the time and a little healthy food here and there” won’t save us.

We are either creating wellness, or inciting sickness every time we eat. Choose well.

It’s just a little blue tube of youth...

Beef Smoked Sausage with Cajun Cauliflower Rice...can easily substitute turkey or chicken sausage and swap out any veggies for others you like better. It was super easy to make and flavorful for sure!

Another Recipe win with the family! I made my own marinara, and only used half the cheese. Our meatballs were made with 85/15 ground beef and served over Edamame pasta (not something I would do often, but it’s a great alternative with lots of fiber that allows us to do pasta every now and then without massive blood sugar impact), and added a cauliflower breadstick on the side. Super tasty!

The fam gave this recipe a unanimous thumbs up tonight!

I added onions, made my own sauce, and reduced the cheese just a bit to limit the dairy impact. It’s loaded with fiber rich low-glycemic carbohydrate veggies and plenty of protein to balance the plate and keep our bodies in fat burning mode.

If you’re craving pizza, this will be right up your alley!

How cute are these little bell peppers I grew in my water tracking app?!? How do you make sure you’re drinking enough daily?

It took a lot of self control to not cut into this Crustless Quiche last night when it finished baking. Busy day ahead, so having breakfast ready to go except for warming up ensures that our bodies are fueled for the day.

When I make this, I use whatever veggies are in the fridge, so this one has about 3-4 cups total of orange bell peppers, onions and mushrooms with a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese on top. The hardest part is waiting for it to finish baking...about 45 minutes at 350 was perfect for this one made with 8 eggs.

We must make the conscious choice to make holidays and social gatherings about people and relationships rather than food and drink.

We get to control what we put into our mouths. This isn’t about being thought rude. A simple “no thank you” goes a long way.

12/23/2020

We may not be able to control what others serve at holiday functions, but we can absolutely make sure that our own contribution will keep us moving towards our goals. Fill up on the healthy food first, and then have a bite or two of favorites from other options.

A snack or small meal before going into social situations helps keep our focus on making smart choices about foods rather than being driven by hunger.
