Hello friends of The Forge! We’re Back! Sorry we have been gone for so long, we missed you all very much! Our household had a rough bout with COVID over the summer and that set us back a bit. We also had an enormous loss in our family with the passing of our beloved Corgi, Neville. To be honest, our emotions are still raw over two months later, and it is still a daily struggle just not want to crawl in bed and cry. But we are pushing forward, and we’ve got some new and exciting things coming to the shop!

We want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween! I hope all the kiddos get lots of candy and treats!

Well we have survived the first week of daylight savings time, and Monday, 3.21.22 is the first day of Spring! During the spring bees begin the restocking food, form new colonies, and established colonies re-emerge. We are fortunate to have the purveyors of the World’s Greatest Honey, ,Tarpon Springs Florida, right in our own backyard! At , they keep their bees the happiest in the most comfortable of settings. However, our bees are dying off in alarming numbers and we need to be sure we are doing all we can to keep our bees alive and happy, just like ! According to Environment America, “bees are dying off at an unsustainable rate, with serious consequences for our natural world. They play a vital role as pollinators and losing them would have a devastating ripple effect across all ecosystems.

In recent years, beekeepers report they’re losing on average 29 percent — and sometimes nearly 40 percent — of all honeybee colonies each winter. It’s twice the loss considered economically tolerable. And just as worrisome, wild bee populations are also in decline.

There are more than 20,000 species of bees, and they are nature’s best pollinators. Ninety percent of wild flowering plants need animal pollinators. Without them, flowering plants will sharply decline, with dangerous consequences for all ecosystems.
