Making magic with plants, hair, and a little healthy rebellion
10/11/2026
I had the pleasure of reading tarot at a Halloween party last night. 🖤
These are some of my favorite nights to read the cards. It feeds my soul to be surrounded by magic, curiosity, laughter, and people willing to explore a little mystery.
The energy of this season feels especially potent right now. As we move deeper into autumn and toward Samhain, we’re invited to turn inward, reflect, release, and make space for transformation. This Venus-ruled lunation feels particularly significant as Venus begins her descent into the underworld, bringing themes of shadow work, introspection, relationships, and rebirth.
One of my favorite parts of reading tarot is teaching folks how to connect with their own intuition. Tarot isn’t about predicting a predetermined future; it’s a tool for reflection, self-discovery, and exploring the possibilities unfolding around us.
I love weaving together intuitive tarot, the Wheel of the Year, lunar cycles, and astrology, sharing how we can work with these seasonal rhythms and incorporate a little ritual and intention into our everyday lives.
There’s something especially magical about gathering during this time of year, when the veil feels a little thinner and we’re reminded of the cycles of death, renewal, and transformation that exist both in nature and within ourselves.
So grateful to share these practices, hold space for curiosity, and connect with such lovely souls. 🎃🖤🎃

IOWA HAS A CLEAN WATER PROBLEM. AND WE NEED TO DEMAND BETTER.
I recently tested the water at three different locations, and the results are telling.
💧 Photo 1 — My home in Cedar Rapids, IA: Approximately 5 ppm nitrates and 0.5 ppm nitrites.
💧 Photo 2 — Our salon in Iowa City, IA: Approximately 5 ppm nitrates and 0.5 ppm nitrites. (The nitrite test strip’s color doesn’t photograph accurately.)
💧 Photo 3 — My beau’s home in Black Earth, WI: Both nitrates and nitrites tested at 0 ppm, or below the test kit’s detection limit.
What’s especially interesting is that Black Earth is in Wisconsin’s Driftless Area, surrounded by agricultural land, with a cornfield directly across the street.
We’re told that nitrate contamination is simply the price we pay for living in an agricultural state. We’re told that water meeting federal standards is safe enough.
But meeting a legal limit is not the same thing as having the cleanest water we can achieve.
Agricultural runoff and fertilizer pollution are not inevitable consequences we should simply accept. They are problems we can address through stronger protections, better land management, and meaningful accountability.
Iowa residents deserve clean drinking water. We deserve transparency about what’s in it. And we deserve policies that prioritize public health and our waterways over the interests of industrial agriculture.
We should not have to accept preventable water pollution as the cost of doing business.
I highly recommend visiting www.cleanwaterhub.org to request a free nitrate testing kit, test your own water, and upload your results. Community testing can help us build a clearer picture of water quality across Iowa.
Test your water. Share your results. Demand better.
Clean water is not a luxury. It’s a necessity. And Iowa can do better.

Look at those gorgeous curls 😍
This treatment was all about supporting her natural texture. My Smooth Over Frizz Treatment smooths the hair, reduces frizz, adds shine and makes curls easier to manage. Think lower-maintenance curls that still look and feel like your curls.
A few of the ingredients doing the work:
Glyoxylic acid helps restructure the keratin in the hair and, when heat is applied, creates a temporary hydrophobic barrier that helps block humidity.
Water lily extract contains tannins that help smooth the cuticle and improve manageability.
Sea buckthorn is rich in omega fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins that help nourish the hair and support softness, shine and strength.
The formula is vegan, formaldehyde-free and protein-free, with no harsh chemical smell. Results can last around 6–7 weeks, and grows about beautifully without a harsh demarcation line.
I love this service for my clients who are struggling with their curls, want less frizz, less fuss and easier styling.
It’s not about changing your curls. It’s about making your curls easier to live in. 🌀
Ready for lower-maintenance curls?
Send me a DM or ask me about the Smooth Over Frizz-Fighting Treatment at your next appointment.

🌿 WHAT IS A HAIR RITUAL? 🌙
Hair rituals are my absolute favorite service to offer. They bring together my love of hair, botanical medicine, tarot, and the ever-changing cycles of the natural world.
✨ THE RITUAL
We begin with a consultation about your hair, what you’re envisioning for your cut, and what your hair and scalp need.
From there, I formulate a botanical treatment using oils, clays, and herbs from my salon apothecary. These are plants I grow, wildcraft, or ethically source.
Some of the oils I work with include jojoba, grapeseed, rosehip, and olive. Depending on the treatment, herbs may include rosemary, chamomile, horsetail, violets, dandelions, nettle, and other botanicals.
While your treatment is working its magic, we settle into an intuitive three-card tarot reading, followed by a bonus oracle card.
We check in with the moon, the astrological season, and the Wheel of the Year, exploring the energy and invitations of the season we’re moving through.
The natural world is always in ritual. The seasons turn, the moon waxes and wanes, and we, too, are constantly changing.
🌿 WHAT YOU TAKE WITH YOU
You’ll leave with a notecard to record insights from your reading and a small talisman to remind you of the intention you’ve set for yourself.
You don’t need any tarot experience to participate. Many of my first-time clients come simply out of curiosity, and I love creating a space where we can explore together.
🍂 ROOTED IN THE WHEEL OF THE YEAR
Hair rituals are an invitation to connect your own intuition and rhythms with the cycles of the natural world.
As we move through Mabon, the Autumnal Equinox, and toward Samhain, All Hallows’ Eve, we begin our journey toward Yule and the longest night of the year.
Each season offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, release, and begin again.
Some of my clients return seasonally, while others build a rhythm around their haircuts, whether that’s twice a year, quarterly, or whenever they feel called to a fresh start.
I’d love to welcome you into my chair this season. 🌙

Swipe right for pics of Chloe’s before hair, after hair and a selfie of how she styles it. Plus some pretty prairie photos thrown in because IOWA 💜
Chloe is my very cute niece who started EMT school last week and is an absolutely hilarious, badass human.
On a whim she decided to chop her hair off, update her blonde sun kissed highlights and the inspo was a layered bixie. I saw the vision and knew it would be sooo cute and perfect for her. I love it!
Thank you to all my clients who let me play with their hair ✨

Oh, August 🌻💜
When the goldenrod and asters begin to bloom, their gorgeous yellow-and-purple pairing marks the bittersweet passing of summer.
I’m the kind of girl who wants summer to never end. I love when the sun shines until 9pm and the days are filled with endless heat, long evenings, and loads of fun. But here we are, welcoming September—and one of my favorite flower pairings in all of nature: goldenrod and aster, blooming together in all their gorgeous poetry of purple and yellow.
The sun sets dramatically earlier now, and though the temperatures are still high (today’s 91° ), I find myself welcoming the cool weather that autumn will bring.
Cheers to the end of endless days and the turning of the wheel.
August was eventful, to say the least. One roommate moved out and another moved in. I made my way to the Wisconsin State Fair to support my dreamy beau and the families they sell pigs to for the rousing pig competitions. And, to round it all out, I escaped to a much-needed cabin trip in the North Woods of Wisconsin for a couple of days of UTV riding, nature and my 2 favorite guys.
And, of course, there were LOADS of gorgeous, wonderful clients in the salon. I was so busy that I somehow only managed to snap photos of one client. Oops. Come see me in September! I clearly need your help me get better hair content for the ’gram. 🤷♀️💕😂
Cheers to September, softer days, cooler nights, changing colors, and all the adventures the next turn of the wheel brings.

Hair is made of keratin proteins held together by different types of bonds.
When those bonds break, hair weakens — but how they break determines how we repair them.
Olaplex works by repairing disulfide bonds.
These bonds break during coloring, lightening, and heat styling.
Olaplex reconnects them, improving strength and reducing breakage over time.
K18 works on polypeptide chains — the protein chains that make up keratin itself.
When these are damaged, hair becomes stretchy, mushy, or fragile.
K18 uses a biomimetic peptide to restore structure deep inside the hair, with results you feel almost immediately.
✨ Different damage = different repair.
✨ Sometimes maintenance is enough.
✨ Sometimes hair needs a full molecular reset.
This is why treatments should be custom, not trendy.
Ask me what your hair actually needs
