Let me introduce myself, I am Debbie Thornton, LE. At the youthful age of 44 I decided to make a career change as part of a quest to improve my overall health and wellbeing. Up to this point stress had caused so much havoc on my physical health and wellbeing. It was difficult but I knew I needed to make some changes to help better myself. It was a struggle in the beginning, but eventually I had a diagnosis and was on the path of recovery. In my prior years, I worked in the corporate world, as a teacher and in management but most recently as a social worker. As I was seeking out change, I knew I wanted my next chapter to be something where I could immerse myself in mindfulness, where I could apply relaxation techniques, while still helping others. So, I took the plunge and went back to school with the desire to become an Esthetician. After all the struggles back in forth with the doctor appointments and treatments and then later surgery it was finally my time to shine, and a career change was in my future. Shortly after starting school, I realized I made the right choice. This career path was fitting for me. When I was in my studies, I felt the most peace. While attending Florida Gateway College, I fell in love with skin care in every aspect, and I found myself graduating with others at the top of my class. The joys of performing facials, learning about products, working with all skin types, the chemistry, and the beauty behind it all, not to mention the simple reward and satisfaction of pampering my clients is so gratifying. I am so happy to say these days I am a lot healthier and stronger. Now, more than ever I am just stoked to be able to share my knowledge and love of skin care with all those I serve.
