What have you done for your skin today?

Photos from HMK Esthetics's post 08/14/2022

This is for my ladies with Melasma. Melasma is a form of hyperpigmentation that is caused by hormones but is triggered by sun exposure and heat. I have several clients who deal with this condition and let me tell you...it's a beast!

I am not wearing makeup in either of the photos posted. The 2nd one is in March after treating my melasma and avoiding the sun all winter. The 1st photo is after ONE WEEK in sunny, hot Florida. I always try to be diligent with reapplication of SPF, wearing a hat, finding shade and was especially careful while in FL.

I know how difficult it is to be diligent and do everything right but still have the melasma appear. Somedays it's hard not to get upset when looking at my skin. But, unfortunately, this is just a part of life now. And this is me.

Come autumn, I will start treatments to lighten the hyperpigmentation but in the meantime I will continue trying to PREVENT. Can you imagine how it would look if I hadn't been actively working to prevent it?

Ladies, myself included, don't be too hard on yourself when your melasma appears. Because it will. Continue to try to prevent and we will work together to get your skin back to where you feel comfortable. 💜

PS Note the under eyes...more on that later 😘
